Honestly, forget the burpees. Forget the weights. This right here is the real test of upper body strength and mental fortitude. πŸ˜…

Why do sports bras turn into straightjackets the second you break a sweat? I genuinely thought I was going to have to live in this thing forever.

Tell me I’m not the only one who has nearly shed tears trying to peel themselves out of one of these?!

One of the biggest barriers to starting a fitness journey isn't ability...

It's what people think they need to be BEFORE they start.

Over the years I've spoken to so many people who have told me:

πŸ’ "I need to lose some weight first."
πŸ’ "I need to get a bit fitter before I join."
πŸ’ "I'm worried I'll be the oldest there."
πŸ’ "It's been years since I've exercised."
πŸ’ "I'm nervous everyone will be watching me."

And honestly?

None of those things matter.

What matters is taking that first step.

Because confidence doesn't come before you start.
It comes FROM starting.

Strength doesn't come before you join.
It comes FROM showing up.

Fitness doesn't come before your first session.
It comes FROM the sessions that follow.

The people who train with me aren't perfect.

They're real people with busy lives, different goals, different starting points and different challenges.

And that's exactly how it should be.

So if you've been waiting until you feel ready...
This is your reminder that you don't have to.

πŸ“© If you've got questions about classes or you're wondering whether RL Fitness is right for you, send me a message. I'd be happy to chat

Walking into a new fitness class can feel daunting.

Even when you really want to start.

Because before people ever walk through the door, they're often asking themselves questions like:

❓ Will I be fit enough?

❓ What if I can't keep up?

❓ What if everyone else knows what they're doing?

❓ What if I make a fool of myself?

❓ What if I'm the least fit person there?

And honestly?

I completely understand those worries.

Because many of the people who train with me felt exactly the same before they started.

The reality of a small group session at RL Fitness is usually very different to what people imagine.

πŸ’› Nobody expects perfection.

πŸ’› Nobody cares what you're lifting.

πŸ’› Nobody is judging you.

πŸ’› Everything can be adapted to suit your ability.

πŸ’› Everyone had a first session once.

πŸ’› Everyone remembers what it feels like to be new.

My job as a coach isn't to throw you in at the deep end.

It's to meet you where you are, help you build confidence and support you every step of the way.

Whether you're returning to exercise after years away, navigating menopause, rebuilding confidence, wanting to get stronger, or simply looking for a friendly place to train...

You don't have to have it all figured out before you start.

You just have to take the first step.

And if I'm honest?

The thing I hear most often after someone's first session is:

πŸ‘‰ "I wish I'd done this sooner."

πŸ’¬ If you've ever thought about joining a fitness class, what would be your biggest concern?

I'd genuinely love to know.

It's funny how one conversation can change the direction of your life.

Over 10 years ago, I was on my own fitness journey.

I'd joined a local fit camp, was surrounded by some amazing people and was slowly discovering that maybe exercise wasn't something I hated quite as much as I thought πŸ˜…

One day, Rachel looked at me and said:
"You'd be good at this."

My response?
I laughed.
Honestly, I thought she was joking.
I remember saying:
"But I don't even like exercise!"

At that point, I couldn't see what she saw.
I couldn't see the potential.
I couldn't see the coach.
I couldn't see the journey that was about to unfold.

But she could.

And for that, I'll always be grateful.

πŸ’› Thank you Rachel.

Thank you for believing in me before I believed in myself.

Thank you for giving me an opportunity.

Thank you for helping me take those first steps into a career that has now become such a huge part of my life.

The funny thing is, looking back, I realise that's exactly what coaches do.

We often see things in people that they can't yet see themselves.

Potential.
Strength.
Confidence.
Capability.

The possibility of becoming something more.
Not because they're broken.
Not because they need fixing.

But because sometimes all it takes is someone pointing towards a door and saying:

"I think you can do this."
You still have to walk through it yourself.

But having someone believe in you can make all the difference.

And now, all these years later, that's one of my favourite parts of coaching.

Helping people see what they're capable of.

πŸ’¬ Has anyone ever done that for you?

Seen something in you before you saw it in yourself?

I'd love to hear your story below.

"This is why I do what I do."

β˜€οΈ Feeling the heat during your workouts?

You don't have to stop exercising when the weather gets warmer... but you may need to adjust how you train.

In my latest blog, I share:

πŸ’§ My top tips for staying cool
πŸ’ͺ How to exercise safely in hot weather
β˜€οΈ Why your workouts feel harder in the heat
πŸ‘€ Plus a few of the things we're doing at RL Fitness to keep our members comfortable

Read it here:

Remember: fitness isn't about suffering through a workout. It's about training smart and staying consistent.

Let me know your favourite way to cool down after exercise! πŸ‘‡

People often come to fitness because they want to:
πŸ’ͺ Get stronger
βš–οΈ Lose weight
πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ Improve fitness
😊 Feel more confident
❀️ Improve their health

And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.

But do you know what I've learned over the years?

Very rarely is that the reason people stay.

They stay because they enjoy it.
They stay because someone notices when they're not there.
They stay because they feel supported.
They stay because they realise they're capable of more than they thought.
They stay because they find people who genuinely want to see them succeed.
They stay because they laugh.
They stay because they feel comfortable being themselves.
They stay because they finally find somewhere they don't feel judged.

One of the things I'm most proud of at RL Fitness isn't the equipment.

It isn't the workouts.
It isn't even the results.
It's the environment we're building together.
An environment where people feel welcome regardless of age, experience, fitness level or confidence.

Because fitness should never feel like somewhere you have to prove yourself.

It should feel like somewhere you belong.
And that's exactly what we're creating.

πŸ’¬ What makes a fitness environment feel welcoming to you?

I'd love to hear your thoughts below.

β˜€οΈ HOT WEATHER UPDATE β˜€οΈ

The temperatures may be rising, but we're not letting the heat stop us! πŸ’ͺ

All RL Fitness sessions will be running as normal this week, although some classes may be modified where needed to help everyone stay as comfortable and safe as possible.

That could mean a few extra recovery breaks, slight adjustments to exercises, or a small tweak to the session structure. As always, the priority is making sure everyone can move, enjoy their workout, and leave feeling good.

βœ… Cool towels will be stocked up and ready.
βœ… Spare water will be available if you've forgotten yours.
βœ… Plenty of encouragement (and probably a few sweaty selfies too! πŸ˜…)

All I ask is that you come prepared:
πŸ’§ Bring a drink
🧺 Bring a towel
⚑ Bring that amazing RL Fitness energy

Despite the awful weather we've had recently, the atmosphere in sessions has been incredible. The effort, positivity, and support you all show each other never goes unnoticed, and I can't wait to see that continue this week.

Let's keep moving, keep smiling, and keep taking steps towards our goals together.

See you in class! ❀️
