One client yesterday was saying she didn’t really want to run in this weather - and I don’t blame her. The fear of slipping over and the cold means you just tighten up and lose the flow you might normally have when running. Even walking is tentative.

Time for WalkFit to shine! No fear of slipping, move with ease and it acts as a great way to get you warm too!!

Cyber Monday and technology has been my enemy....
BUT
Advent calendar should now be up and running! Link in comments below👇

I couldn’t hold them back any longer… the Christmas songs are on, the mulled wine is simmering, and the tree is officially going up! 🎄✨

After Candlelight Pilates this week and a wander around a Christmas market yesterday, the festive spirit has well and truly taken over… so I’m going with it!

✨ My FREE Fitness Advent Calendar is back for 2025! ✨

Quick daily workouts you can actually fit into real December life - school plays, late-night shopping, Christmas fairs and everything else pulling on your time.

This is the time of year when movement usually slides, but it’s also when we need it most. Not for “discipline”… but for ENERGY. For mood. For feeling a bit more you in the middle of the chaos.

So many people have told me recently how much difference short sessions have made — WalkFit, Pilates, mobility, toning, even a few minutes of self-massage. Little pockets of movement genuinely help shift that sluggish feeling.

And as Dr Stacy Sims said this week:

“The holidays are not a test of discipline or perfection… If HIIT helps you feel more grounded, more energized, and more yourself, use it. And if rest is what your body needs, honour that too.”

That’s exactly the idea behind the Advent Calendar:

Daily emails with bite-sized sessions you can do whenever you get a moment

You’ll get a mix of:
✔️ WalkFit
✔️ Pilates
✔️ Toning
✔️ Mobility
✔️ Self-care & release work

All designed to help you feel more healthy, more energised and more you this December.

🎁 It’s completely free - comment ADVENT below to grab your spot!

Some of my “best bits” from the past 20 years:

- Being nominated for a local business award, and winning Netmums’ Favourite Classes for You and MoveGB’s Best Fitness Classes in Manchester - both voted for by my clients, which made them particularly special

- Raising money for Tommy’s baby charity, the British Heart Foundation, Snowdrops Postnatal Support, and PANDAS.

- Having my Buggy classes shown on Sky News!

- Writing a pelvic floor book that hit #1 on Amazon - and being told that a gynaecologist recommended it to all her patients.

- Being invited as a pelvic floor expert to a menopause training day, a hysterectomy group, a slow runners group, and a women’s strength training group.

- Becoming one of only 5 level 3 Hypopressives instructors in the UK

- Teaching online sessions for a running group, a school, and a weight-loss group, plus in-person talks for various mum & baby groups.

- Mastering new technology and creating a full online membership platform

- Reaching people across the UK, Ireland, America, Canada, France, and Turkey.

- Choreographing workouts (by request) to Proud Mary, Gangnam Style, and Thriller.

- Hosting Christmas specials - Candlelight Pilates, aerobics in fairy lights(!), festive get-togethers, and my famous non-alcoholic mulled wine!

- Receiving countless gifts, cards, and messages over the years - the biggest highlight of all is knowing I made a difference

- Doing all this through pregnancy, postnatal years, and menopause!

I may not be a viral sensation, and the last five years have definitely been the hardest…

But I’m still here. And I’m so grateful for every one of you who has been part of this journey!

What about you? I’d love to hear your favourite memories.

Today marks 20 years of Sarah Parker Fitness, so naturally I've been doing a bit of reminiscing…

I never really had a big vision or a five-year plan - I’ve always just gone with the flow, taken the opportunities that came my way, and just ended up here! But it feels like exactly where I’m meant to be...

I’ve actually been teaching fitness for nearly 27 years. In the beginning it was simply something I did between acting jobs. But over time, I realised I was looking forward to my aerobics classes more than my acting work. So I decided to become a full-time fitness instructor, teaching in various gyms all over the Manchester area

When I went on maternity leave with my first baby, I gave up all my classes, assuming I’d return soon enough. But then I pr*****ed, and suddenly everything felt uncertain. I knew I wouldn’t be able to go back to teaching in quite the same way.

Then one day at a baby group, the after-school team from a local high school approached me and asked if I’d like to run a regular class there. It felt perfect - a way I could choose exactly what I taught and how I taught it.

And that’s where Sarah Parker Fitness began.

I started with Bums, Tums & Wobbly Bits and Pilates one night a week. It grew to two nights, and we added Aerobics too. After my second daughter was born, we moved into a local church hall, where I stayed until lockdown.

I had trained in pregnancy exercise originally for my own benefit when planning my family, but it soon became clear my pregnant Pilates clients needed something tailored to them. So pregnancy classes were born.

Postnatal classes soon followed when a tight-knit group of pregnant clients wanted to keep going after their babies arrived. That’s how BuggyFit started - with my youngest happily joining me on her scooter!

Once she started school, I could add daytime classes too: more buggy classes, Postnatal Pilates, and a circuit-style class.

By the time Covid arrived, I was teaching 17 classes across 7 different venues.

Then everything changed.

Suddenly everything had to go online. It was a steep learning curve (for all of us!) but those classes helped carry us through an incredibly difficult time. And moving online permanently became my biggest pivot - as I decided to stop zooming around multiple venues down to just one: my home to yours.

Being online has meant that I can teach shorter, more flexible sessions. I trained in WalkFit to counter my own time sitting at a desk - and now it’s one of my most popular classes.

It meant I could finally use equipment like birthing balls and kettlebells which would've been a logistical nightmare in a live setting!

And I can teach some of my favourites - I never did Hypopressives as a class until now. Trigger Point Pilates used to be a monthly special, but now I have two regular classes. And I've been able to bring Aerobics back - having stopped teaching it at the end of 2018

And best of all, going online meant I could reach people all over - including those who wouldn't be able to make in-person classes, or who have no provision near them

None of this was planned. All of it was a response to whatever life threw at me.
But it’s allowed me to help more people, and it’s made my classes so much more than “just exercise.”

I don’t know exactly what the future looks like (another 20 years???) - but I do know this:

I’m so lucky - I love my job and the people I work with, I love continuing to learn new things and sharing them with you

And I will continue to pivot to better support you and my wonderful community.
