It is an honour playing a match in loving memory of Michael Welford.

A great and honest man who was taken too soon.

With deep ties between both clubs we will cherish Sundays fixture deeply.

We’re thinking of Michael’s family during this turbulent time in their life and wish them nothing but our deepest condolences.

Tomorrow marks a huge milestone in the history of our football club.

For the very first time ever, Wolviston FC Ladies will play a home match at Metcalfe Park, as we take on Redcar Athletic in what promises to be a special afternoon for everyone connected with the club.

This isn't just another pre-season fixture. It's the beginning of a new chapter for women's football at Wolviston FC and a moment that will forever be part of our club's history.

The match will also be played in loving memory of Michael Welford. Michael's support, kindness and encouragement meant so much to so many of us, and we're proud to honour him on such an important day. With Michaels daughter Gabbi Welford leading her team out as captain there is no better way to remember Michael who was a grassroots coach, dad and volunteer. 💙

We'd love to see as many people as possible down at Metcalfe Park to help create an atmosphere worthy of this historic occasion.

Let's make history. Let's do it together. Let's do it for Michael. 💙
