Yesterday we looked at 3 reasons why hulahooping is great for your body and today we are going to see what it can do for your mind!

❤️ 1) Mindfulness, meditation and flow....I’ve always found hulahooping is the one thing that can help me access a flow state quicker than anything else in my life. The rhythmic motion of the hoop rocking on your body is a form of moving meditation (try closing your eyes and tuning in to the physical sensations). Plus, whether you’re learning complicated tricks or just dancing to music, hooping can focus the mind on the task at hand and allow you to release any of the tension of the day. Coupled with the exercise benefits (which I talked about yesterday), it’s a fantastic way to help the symptoms of stress, anxiety and depression

❤️2) Release your inner child....Plato said “You can discover more about a person in an hour of play than in a year of conversation”. Play is the way we learn as children, but as adults we don’t make much time for joy and discovery and fun. And we should! Play stimulates the mind by boosting brain activity, reduces stress by making us laugh and generally bonds us to other people. Hulahooping is fab way to reconnect with your playful side, to enjoy being silly, making mistakes and being creative (even if you don’t consider yourself a “creative” person)

❤️3) Community...Did you know there are thousands of hulahoopers all around the world? Yup, we are all over the place and we are a pretty friendly bunch. You’re almost guaranteed to find a class, a hoop jam or a Facebook group of hoopers in your local area. And if not, there’s a load of us all on social media ready to hang out with you! Finding a group of people with a similarly interest is such a great way to avoid loneliness, to boost your social skills and makes learning new things much easier

WHAT HAS HOOPING DONE FOR YOU?... I’d love to hear from you - how has hooping helped your mental wellbeing ?
