A little Navasana Boat pose sequence to add some 🔥 to your yoga practice 🛶

Boat Pose is one of those deceptively simple yoga postures that asks a LOT from your core. This little sequence works your deep core, hip flexors and overall stability while challenging you to stay connected to your breath.

Try moving slowly and with control rather than rushing through the transitions. And remember, you don’t have to hold the fullest expression of the pose for it to be effective 🙌🏼

Save this for your next Vinyasa or home yoga practice 🤍

POV: Your yoga teacher leaves Thread the Needle alone because sometimes the original is already doing exactly what you need it to do 👌🏼👀

I love this stretch for the thoracic spine (upper back) and personally I don’t feel the need to add a bind, extend the leg or turn it into something more complicated.

Instead, the only cue I use is: “point the elbow of your supporting hand towards the sky and gently apply pressure to increase the twist in your upper back”.

That gives you control over the rotation and takes any pressure away from your neck 👌🏼

You decide how much pressure to put through the hand, which means you can gradually deepen the twist through the upper back without forcing it.

Simple. Controlled. Effective. 😆

Sometimes we really don’t need to add more to feel it 💕

This pose isn’t just a heart opener. It’s a supported heart opener and when you’ve tried it, you know the support makes all the difference 💫

When your body feels held by the bolster, there’s less need to brace or protect. Backbends and heart-opening poses can sometimes feel uncomfortable, both physically and mentally.

As we open the front of the body, it can feel like a vulnerable position, and sometimes our natural response is to resist it.

With a bolster or blocks placed along the length of your spine, your chest is gently invited to open, your shoulders begin to soften and your spine is supported in a comfortable backbend without strain.

As the front of the body opens and your breathing becomes slower and easier, you might notice a growing sense of ease.

The support beneath you can make it feel safer to let go of tension, allowing both body and mind to soften.

Sometimes we simply need enough support to let ourselves unfold without force 💕💫✨

Rest is strangely something that’s so difficult in a world where we’re trained to think that productivity is the most important thing 👀

We’re so used to doing, achieving and pushing through that simply stopping can feel uncomfortable.

I talk about Ahimsa a lot in my classes…it means non-harming and that absolutely includes the way we treat ourselves too 🙏🏼

Rest isn’t something we earn once everything is done, because there will always be something else to do. Sometimes rest is exactly what we need before we get to the point of exhaustion 🤍

When someone tells you their back is aching… but still refuses to come to yoga 👀😂

Meanwhile, we’re over here moving, stretching, strengthening and creating space in the body 🧘‍♂️🧘🏼‍♀️

Yoga can be such a beautiful way to support your back, improve mobility and flexibility, build strength, release tension and simply make your body feel GOOD.

So this is your gentle reminder from your yoga teacher…

Maybe your back needs a little yoga 😉🫶🏼

Puppy Pose (Uttana Shishosana) feels SO much deeper with this little trick 🐶✨

This is a cue I give in my yoga classes whenever we practise this pose: grab hold of the top of your mat and actively push it away from you.

Having something to grip means you can really press through your hands and engage the muscles around your shoulders and upper back, while still creating length through the shoulders.

So you’re not just passively hanging into the stretch… you’re actively creating it with more control and muscular engagement.

Such a small change, but you can really feel the difference 😍

Save this one to try next time you practise 🫶🏼
