Reading Students' Union Helping students have the best time at the University of Reading! Students at the University of Reading are automatically members of RUSU.

From the advice staff working in the Advice, Representation & Campaigns centre to the student staff working behind the bar and the Student Officers elected by you to speak up on your behalf, we are all here to help you make the most of your student experience. As such, students are entitled and encouraged to direct the Students’ Union by attending the democracy meetings as well as voting for Student Officers who represent the student body on campus, locally and nationally. RUSU provides over 100 student representation groups, societies, sports clubs and volunteer groups to help enrich students' experience. The Union also offers independent advice on anything from immigration to finance and housing to education through our Student Advice team. As a charity (No. 1140375), all of the money that is spent in RUSU is reinvested back into the services we provide.

The Lounge is a warm, welcoming space to relax, study, and unwind on campus.
 
🕒Opening hours during semester:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 8am - 10pm
Wednesday and Saturday: 8am - 8pm
Sunday: Closed
 
You’ll find The Lounge at the back of the Students’ Union building next to Car Park 4. You’ll need your campus card and your unique 4-digit PIN to access the building.

Home to two bookable rooms, The Lounge is a hotspot for student group meetings and activities. Ask at our Welcome Desk to make a booking!

The Lounge features a fully equipped kitchen stocked with free tea and coffee, a microwave, hot water dispenser, and sink ☕️
 
Enjoy your lunch on our stylish bar stools!

Travelling to campus?🎒
 
There are a number of lockers inside The Lounge that you can use to store heavy items. Visit the Welcome Desk inside the Students’ Union building to request access. For a £5 deposit, you’ll be given a card to access your new locker.

The patio is a hidden gem, and a great place to enjoy our beautiful green campus! (See photo from when it was a bit warmer🫣)

Fancy a change of pace from the Library? You’ll find comfortable sofas and high-top chairs, so that you can study in the way that works best for you 📚
 
Finally, you’ll also find bathroom facilities in The Lounge, meaning everything you need is right here in one place!

Supporting student health and wellbeing was a key commitment in Ellie’s manifesto, and she’s been working hard to turn those promises into action!
 
That’s why Anthony Nolan will be on campus on Tuesday 27th October, from 10am - 4pm, to talk all about stem cell donation and how you could make a difference.
 
You’ll find them at these key campus locations:
⭐️ Outside the SU building
⭐️ Outside the Palmer building
⭐️ Library foyer
 
If you’re under the age of 30 and interested in learning more, visit one of their stalls to find out about stem cell donation and sign up to register.
