Wargrave Cricket Club has been at the centre of village life for over 150 years and the new pavilion will mean a new, larger modern home to host our league and friendly fixtures as well as offering much improved facilities for colts and junior members. In addition, we will be able to expand and offer cricket to many more people including the increasingly popular girls’ and women’s cricket teams. W

e also aim to host more county cricket – Berkshire junior, over 50’s and over 60’s teams have been regular guests for several years and we hope to progress to the full county teams.

🏏 Batting Milestones at Wargrave Cricket Club 🏏

Three brilliant milestones reached this weekend by three players who have made huge contributions across the club over the years 👏❤️🖤

🔴 Luke Taylor – 4000 Senior League Runs
Luke has been dominating attacks for the 3rd XI over the last few years, piling on runs season after season and setting the standard at the top of the order. A massive achievement to reach 4000 senior league runs — and plenty more still to come!

🔴 Toby Greatwood – 2000 Senior League Runs
Toby has been prolific for the 1st XI in recent seasons, consistently producing big runs against strong opposition and becoming a key part of the side’s batting line-up. A fantastic milestone and fully deserved recognition for all the hard work.

🔴 Neal Robinson – 8000 Senior League Runs
An incredible achievement for Neal, a true club stalwart who is somehow still nudging and nurdling his way to runs for the 1st XI! 8000 senior league runs is a phenomenal effort and a testament to years of consistency, determination, and cricketing know-how.

Congratulations to all three on superb achievements for Wargrave Cricket Club 👏🏏

🏏 200 League Appearances for Matt Townson 🏏

A huge congratulations to Matt on reaching an incredible milestone of 200 league appearances for Wargrave Cricket Club! 👏❤️

Matt has been at the heart of the club for years — from leading the 2nd XI as captain for more seasons than anyone can count, to helping guide and support the next generation of players coming through the club. His commitment, leadership, and love for WCC have made a massive impact both on and off the field.

Still going strong, Matt now sits 3rd on the all-time appearances list among current regular players — a testament to his consistency, dedication, and passion for the club.

Thank you for everything you do for Wargrave Cricket Club, Matt. A true club man in every sense. ❤️🖤

What a fantastic afternoon at Wargrave Cricket Club yesterday for our Ex-Players Luncheon.
It was brilliant to welcome back so many familiar faces and true legends of WCC, with 91 year old Ron Martin taking centre stage.
Ron’s story is remarkable, playing for WCC for over 60 years after first coming up to Wargrave CC as an 11-year-old boy. He recalled being asked to fill in for a game in 1946, the year soldiers were returning home from the war, when Lord Remenant asked him if he could make up the numbers. The rest is history. A true servant of the club and a great reminder of what WCC is all about.
Amongst other players was John Shanahan, who played from 1955 to 1995 after moving to Henley in 1953.
Dave Dickie also joined us, sharing memories of playing alongside his captain Ron after starting his own WCC journey in 1961 and enjoying around 30 years at the club.
It was also great to have our current President and ex-player Mike Hall with us amongst lots of other past players including Graham Bell, Dan Coombes, Jos Colbourne, Vin Grantham, Charlie Hall, Joe Hanley, Fred Herbert, Sefton Hewitt, Phil Norris, Nick PG, Tim Saloman, Ian Stuart.

Thanks to everyone who came along and helped make it such a memorable occasion. We hope to see more of you down at the club this season.
