Owned by James Purdey & Sons and founded 30 years ago, the Royal Berkshire Shooting School, Gun Room and Country Store is based in 100 acres in an area of outstanding natural beauty just an hour from London. Our facilities include eight towers, three Grouse Butts, pattern plates and an infinite number of shooting stands. We host numerous events at the Royal Berkshire as well as simulated days at venues such as Highclere Castle and Englefield House. The Royal Berkshire Sporting Agency organises shoots both in the UK and further afield in Spain, Africa and Argentina. Put simply, the Royal Berkshire is 'Shooting at its best'.

The Purdey Bolt-Action R***e.

Although we have been making Bolt-Action ri**es for nearly a century, our modern Bolt-Action was redesigned nearly ten years ago to incorporate modern features including a Titanium chassis.

Last year another milestone was reached when we launched our first in-house manufactured action.

Combined with the Titanium chassis and a fully free floated barrel these are the most accurate ri**es we have ever produced.

The result is a r***e that is truly a ‘London Best’ in design, aesthetic and finish.

Invented by Frederick Beesley, our Side-by-Side is a self-opening action that all others have been judged by since 1880.

From the Purdey archives.

The 1860s leather gun case which was discovered in the archives at Audley House in Mayfair, London - becomes inspiration for a new line of Purdey luggage.

The striped interior within the gun case has been replicated in our 1814 webbing which can be found on the new Purdey Field Luggage collection, a nod to our heritage in each piece.
