Hurst Bowling Club

Hurst Bowling Club Sociable enjoyment since 1747 We invite you to try this enjoyable sport which is challenging without needing physical prowess.

The majority of our matches are played as “mixed triples” which means five teams of three bowlers, each having at least one lady and one gentleman. This results in good companionship amongst ourselves, meeting like-minded people within a radius of about 25 miles and renewing old acquaintances. Most of our matches are played on Wednesday evenings, Saturday and Sunday afternoons and are friendlies b

12 Wonderful Seasons with Hurst Bowls Club

As we wrap up our 12th season of games with Hurst Bowls Club, we at The Link Visiting Scheme want to extend our heartfelt thanks to this incredible club for their unwavering support and hospitality. From May to September, every week, Hurst Bowls Club has graciously opened its doors to welcome our Link Friends and volunteers, providing a wonderful space for camaraderie, fun, and the brilliant game of bowls.

A Historic and Welcoming Club
Hurst Bowls Club, with its rich history dating back to at least the mid-18th century, is more than just a place to play bowls. The club is steeped in tradition and community spirit, offering a beautiful setting adjacent to the historic Castle Inn and St. Nicholas Church. The club prides itself on being a family of bowlers, where exercise, friendship, and social interaction are at the forefront. The game itself promotes competition, concentration, discipline, and teamwork, making it an inclusive activity for all.
The Importance of Our Partnership
Our partnership with Hurst Bowls Club is invaluable. It provides our Link Friends and volunteers with a unique opportunity to engage in a healthy, social activity in a welcoming environment. The club’s commitment to inclusivity and community aligns perfectly with our mission at The Link Visiting Scheme. This collaboration not only enhances the well-being of our members but also strengthens community bonds.

A Joyous Celebration
To mark the end of another successful season,we presented a certificate to Hurst Bowls Club, acknowledging their generous support and partnership. This special moment was led by our Chair of Trustees, John Mallaghan, who expressed our collective gratitude and appreciation. We also celebrated with the usual delicious homemade cakes and tea, made by Hurst Bowls club volunteers, a weekly event that everyone looks forward to. In true summertime spirit, we bravely dodged and failed to dodge the rainy deluge but that’s just all part of it!
We look forward to many more seasons of friendship and fun with Hurst Bowls Club. Thank you to Ronnie Ashley and her team of volunteers at Hurst Bowls Club for being such an integral part of our community!

Congratulations to our Hurst Bowling Club boy, well done.
What an absolutely amazing day it was on Thursday having the honour of playing for Microsoft FC in the Channel Partner Championship at the famous Craven Cottage, home of Premier League side Fulham Football Club, raising over £117,000 for Cancer Research UK (CRUK). Thanks to all my lovely friends and family I was very humbled and pleasantly surprised to be the top fundraiser out of the whole of Microsoft! I really can’t thank you all enough for your amazing generosity. Oh and the football wasn’t bad either 😁🏆🥇⚽️❤️"

Absolute blast and honour playing with the Dream Team (Rest Of Microsoft) at the Select Car Leasing Stadium last week raising over £16,000 for such a worthy cause, Reading FC Community Trust and running out as Microsoft Cup winners 🙏🏆🥇⚽️❤️
