Self Defence Combat Academy has officially arrived at the Space Hub!

Our new weekly class helps children aged 7–17 develop:

Your child doesn’t need to be confident or have any previous experience before joining. Our classes are friendly, welcoming and suitable for complete beginners.

This isn’t about encouraging children to fight. It’s about teaching them how to recognise danger, make safer choices and protect themselves if they ever need to.

17 years ago, I came to Woodley every day to work in a factory.

Today, I returned for a completely different reason. To open my own self defence class. 👊

Back then, I never imagined I would leave that job, build Self Defence Combat Academy and return to Woodley as a full-time self defence instructor.

Today genuinely felt like I had come full circle.

This is more than just another class to me. It’s an opportunity to help children in Woodley become safer, stronger and more confident.

A new chapter starts today, and I’m excited to see where it leads. 💙🙏

What an amazing day for SDCA! 👊

Today, we had the privilege of delivering a self defence demonstration at this incredible venue.

I was genuinely amazed by how many children wanted to get involved and learn practical self defence skills. Their enthusiasm, confidence and willingness to give everything a go were fantastic to see!

I also want to give a special shout-out to one of my junior students, Jude, for coming along and helping me today.

Not only did Jude learn some advanced techniques, but he also had the opportunity to demonstrate what he already knows in front of everyone. That takes real confidence, and he did an absolutely brilliant job! 💪

THIS is exactly why I love what I do! 👊

One of my private 1-1 students recently faced a real-life encounter with an aggressive person.

When the pressure was real, his training took over.

He stayed calm, controlled the aggressor using a restraint and brought the situation to a safe conclusion.

Nobody was seriously hurt. The threat was stopped. He got home safely.

That is the real victory.

Self defence isn’t about looking tough or winning fights. It’s about having the confidence, judgement and practical skills to protect yourself when there is no referee and no second chance.

Years of training came down to one moment, and he handled it brilliantly.

I couldn’t be prouder. This is what real self defence is all about! 💪
