Football returns to Oak Meadow this Saturday so why not go and support the new Rayne FC team in their first home game ⚽️

We finally have our first home game of the season! It’s an exciting time for the club and this Saturday we really need some home support. We’d love as many of the village to come and support the team. Whether you watch the fantastic Rayne Cricket Club or watch a bit of football, we should be proud that our village have cricket, football and other sports teams who all work hard to provide opportunities for youngsters and adults alike. This Saturday marks a significant milestone cor our club as it’s the first time a Saturday men’s team have played in the village for over 10 years. Since we got going in May we’ve had overwhelming support from Rayne Youth Football Club the Village Hall as well as some pretty awesome local sponsors. It wouldn’t be possible without them all so it would be great to see a many of you this Saturday. The The Welsh Princess will also be our post match venue for those who need to rehydrate after what we hope is our first win of the season.

We’re underway at home to Gestingthorpe in a 35 over match. After 4 overs our visitors are 5-1. We have a BBQ after the game so pop along for a burger.

Something a bit different on Monday night as we swap our cricket whites for football boots and take on the new men’s team ⚽️

The cricket game a few weeks ago was a fun night and it would be great to see some supporters down at Oak Meadow for this one. Our transfer window is still very much open so do get in touch if you want to take part 🌳

🏏 FIXTURE UPDATE 🏏

A quick update on our remaining fixtures for July. We have added a special midweek T20 game against the new team who will be sharing Oak Meadow with us from September. will also be visiting for a Sunday friendly later in the month.

It would be great to see a few people down to watch what should be some entertaining cricket. Players can update their availability in the usual ways 🌳

🏏 MATCH RESULT 🏏

Sunday’s visit to Wethersfield was shortened to a 25 over match due to bad weather and it was a low scoring game on a difficult pitch. Captain Nick Alen lead the way for Rayne with 3 wickets and 25 runs before getting caught with the scores level and only two balls to go. This left it to our number 11 Scott Whiteside to hit the winning runs with a boundary off the very last ball 🔥
