If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you always got. - Henry Ford.

Sounds simple, right? Yet all too often we find ourselves on autopilot. BUT, when we take a moment to work on shifting our habitual responses and routines...amazing things can happen.

And this afternoon, I will be teaching two amazing ladies a totally new practice - mindful meditation, but not as you may know it! As we dive into the process and connection of thoughts, movement and breathwork...this is the perfect practice to reduce rumination, improve emotional clarity, and foster a sense of groundedness.

Mindful practices can support decision making (based on wisdom rather than emotional patterning) and the ability to handle new situations (fluid intelligence) and shift perspective.

All of which can really support nervous system regulation and neuroplasticity. Oh...THIS IS YOGA!!!!! 😉

✨ Yoga isn’t about what you can do; it’s about what yoga does to you. ✨

We have been exploring this weeks theme with a sense of curiosity (at the same time as attempting some lovely wild ' Wild Things'!)

Yoga can do so much for the body, breath and mind. I have felt so incredibly blessed and humbled this week practicing alongside a truly fantastic group of yogis, including those navigating Parkinson’s, MS, anxiety, and depression. You are all amazing.

Later today, I am so looking forward to inviting some wonderful yogis to slow things down. As it is just as important to rest! We will be melting onto yummy bolsters, blankets, and cushions for our wonderful restorative Zen Flow. 🥰 If you have never tried restorative yoga....what are you waiting for? (Keep in touch as we will soon be able to offer more mat spaces for this fab class!)

Sending so much love and gratitude to every single one of the wonderful yogis I get to share this space with.

See you on the mat! 🙏✨

Taking a little time out today to ponder this quote and how easily our very own internal messages get lost in translation.

While it doesn't come from traditional yoga philosophy, it may just mirror the practice. Just as we misinterpret the stories we tell ourselves, we often misinterpret our own physical signals.

Yoga bridges this gap as a journey of the self. It builds the interoception and somatic awareness we need to truly understand the body's language, allowing us to clear the static and just maybe still the mind. ✨🧘‍♀️

The journey of learning never truly ends. ✨

As a yoga teacher and now trainee yoga therapist I am always a student first. Sharing yoga with others reminds me how important it is to keep learning, so I can truly support others on their yoga journey.

And it got me thinking as I set up for today’s module of my yoga therapy masters (it’s day four of module eleven and this time topics have included ME/CFS, dementia, mindfulness and breathwork!),..

Dreams really do come true! Two years ago, I started on a new path…qualifying as a health focused yoga teacher and starting a new business; and last year commencing a two year yoga therapy course! I also get to work with some amazing people – including those with Parkinson's, cancer, anxiety and depression. I have never looked back since.

Yes, it is hard work trying to balance everything…but the truth is I feel incredibly blessed to have met so many wonderful yogis and people doing amazing things on this journey. I can’t wait to see what comes next!

Whether you choose movement, breathwork, meditation, stillness, or a little philosophy this is all very much yoga and it's science backed to have a big impact on your overall health and wellbeing.
