🏏 LEAGUE MATCH ROUND-UP 🏏

What a way to start the season!

The Wildcats took on EKTA Eagles in our first league game of the year and came away with a 19–8 victory. More importantly, it was played in a fantastic spirit, with plenty of laughter, banter and support from both teams throughout.

⭐ Umpire’s Player of the Match (Wildcats) – Frankie
Outstanding at backstop, making some brilliant throws and scoring three rounders.

⭐ Wildcats Girl of the Game (EKTA Eagles) – Wolf
Last batter in and still managed to score rounder after rounder!

⭐ EKTA’s Girl of the Game (Wildcats) – Cat
Three consecutive rounders. Enough said! 👏

⭐ Wildcats Players’ Player – Sharpie
Voted for by her teammates for safe hands in the field, strong batting, and an epic dive at 2nd post to get a player out.

What a day for the Wildcats! 💙🥎☀️

Today we headed to an amazing Player Development Day ran by Sophie and Haj, and honestly we couldn’t have asked for a better way to prepare ahead of our first league game on Wednesday!

The day was packed with knowledge, encouragement, energy and so much fun. Sophie and Haj broke down every single element of playing rounders — from batting and fielding, to positioning, communication, tactics and overall game play — in a way that was engaging, supportive and easy to put into practice. Every drill and activity had a purpose, and you could really see everyone growing in confidence throughout the day.

A huge shoutout as well to the girls from Horsforth Haws Black team who ran each station and shared their expert knowledge throughout the day. They were brilliant from start to finish, helping everyone develop their skills, build confidence and really understand the game on another level. We learned so much from all of you! 🙌

After all the development work, we finished with a mini tournament where we got to put everything into action. It was competitive, exciting, full of laughs and such a good way to bring everyone together as a team. 💪🥎

It was SO sunny all day long ☀️ and safe to say every single one of us is absolutely worn out now… but what a day it was! The whole event was incredibly well thought out and organised, and the effort put into it really showed.

We came away feeling motivated, inspired and so much more prepared heading into the season. Thank you again to everyone involved for such an amazing day — we had the best time and can’t wait for Wednesday! 🔥

📚⚾ Wednesday night training took a very unexpected turn…

The Wildcats swapped scorecards for spreadsheets and turned rounders training into a full-on maths lesson 🤓😂

The ladies took part in:
📏 Measuring throw distances
🔮 Predicting how far they could throw
📈 Calculating improvements from first throw to final throw

Who knew “Girl of the Game” could also become “Pythagoras of the Pitch”? 🤣

Huge well done to all the Wildcats for giving it a go and proving once again that rounders players really can do it all 💙💛

Great evening for the Wharfedale Wildcats as we took the win against Horsforth Blues in a really competitive friendly.

It was lovely to play such an up-and-coming team and they’re definitely one to watch in the future.

The Wildcats were sharp in the field all game with some brilliant teamwork, quick reactions and strong all-round play.

Girl of the Game went to Frankie for outstanding throwing, excellent work as backstop and some brilliant play in deep field.

Top scorer for the Wildcats was Sharpie with some fantastic batting and confident running.

Thank you to Horsforth Blues for a great game. We already can’t wait for the next one.

Will it rain? Won’t it rain? 🌧️🌩️

The Wildcats trained, armed with clothing for every season! 😂

We were lucky enough to have Georgia The Rounders Coach join us and coach through live game situations, giving loads of brilliant in-game tips and tactical pointers. Every player came away with something valuable to move forward with.

And yes… a torrential hailstorm halfway through didn’t stop us. The Wildcats play on 💪

Georgia’s Girls of the Game went to Bex for quite possibly the best catch out ever, a true one-handed wonder 🤯 and Evie for fantastic bowling and another epic catch.
