Rawcliffe United Promoted to Championship

We ended our season on a disappointing result last week meaning we had to sit and wait for the result of this weekend games to decide our future

We sat second of the start of today but AFC Mallard did their job away at Kinsley so all eyes turned to Edlington FC…

This sees Rawcliffe finishing 3rd on goal difference. In the league table 2nd, 3rd and 4th all finished up on 45 points, all 3 teams had the same amount of wins, losses and draws, which really shows how close it was!

The lads will get together to celebrate on our presentation evening which will be held at the Rawcliffe Bridge Club Date to be confirmed

We would like to thank everyone who’s played, watched or followed us on this journey and hope we can continue improving every season onwards!

🔴⚫️🔴⚫️ Match day 22 ⚪️⚫️⚪️⚫️

Last game of the season and Rawcliffe travel to Edlington FC, both teams being 2nd and 3rd all season. Rawcliffe just need one point to confirm promotion and finish 2nd in the League…but knowing the lads they will want to go out in style with getting all 3 points to end a great season we have had.

Rawcliffe face Yorkshire Grey in the last home game of the season knowing that 3 points and a result in another fixture will secure promotion.

While our social media posts haven’t been up to date with chairman having time off, the lads on the pitch have been getting results when needed and it leads us to tomorrow’s game.

The lads know it will not be an easy task but know what’s at stake hoping to get the job done this weekend!

Lads will be going back to Rawcliffe Bridge Club after the game for refreshments and some food.

🔴⚫️Rawcliffe United get first win in 2026⚪️⚫️

Rawcliffe United end their losing streak with a win at home against Innings AFC

Changes were made with suspensions and a couple of players returning for selection, with the team picked, the lads knew it would be a test to get the 3 points and the result we wanted.

Rawcliffe started well making plenty of chances but not being able to find the back of the net. Innings had some chances but nothing too concerning for returning Goal keeper Adam David Cook to sort out. Class display from the back 4 with a centre back partnership which hasn’t happened since 2019-20 season with Captain Ryan Chapman and returning Alex Hunt.

With Rawcliffes tireless midfield of Dave Duzza Durham,Alfie Gisbourne and Oliver Brennan all creating and having chances, half time being minutes away, Rawcliffe was thinking it was going to be one of them days where nothing hits the net as even a penalty was saved denying the hosts the lead.
Within the last minute to go till half time a ball played forward which was flicked on by Josh Tooke opened up a chance for Reece Chapman who was one on one with the keeper for which he took it around the keeper and sent the hosts into half time with tap in to the empty net.

Second half Rawcliffe made some changes with Desmond Owusu stepping in for injured Gisbourne.
Rawcliffe got their second with a clearance from Adam Cook landing into space behind the innings back 4 letting Reece Chapman run onto it and having another one on one to just curl it around the keeper and in, 2-0
Rawcliffe came close making it 3-0 nill after nice bit of play with Jack Mirfin linking up with the midfield and Oscar Stowell who hit the bar after a hit just inside the box. With Rawcliffe making problems, Rawcliffes 3rd did eventually come with a corner kick took by David Durham who found Captain Ryan Chapman free in the box to head it into the net 3-0

Innings managed to get one back with a mix up between two players saw them slotting in to the Rawcliffe net. 3-1
Rawcliffe managed to respond by getting their fourth shortly after getting a corner kick cleared and played back into the box Ryan Chapman chested it down to set Reece Chapman up for a half volley just outside the box. 4-1
Rawcliffes final goal came again after a corner took by Rawcliffes Pirlo…Oliver Brennan which caused a mix up in the box and centre back Ryan chapman doing Kick up in the box which looked like it was going out for a corner till Reece Chapman won the race to save it against the keeper to which he scored from a tight angle on his weaker foot. 5-1

Great performance all round and the result Rawcliffe wanted which pushed us back into second place in the league. Great to see people down at bridge park to cheer the lads on aswell.

Rawcliffe will be looking to stop their 4 straight defeats tomorrow against Innings AFC.

After two defeats in the league and two in both cup competitions, Rawcliffe now aims to gain promotion where we currently sit 3rd in the table, joint points with second place Edlington.

With players missing, Rawcliffe turn to returning debut Alex Hunt, and returning loan player Adam Cook who haven’t played since October.

🔴⚫️🔴⚫️WE ARE BACK⚪️⚫️⚪️⚫️

Well lets say some of us are, after a long break with fixtures postponed due to weather and fixture byes which placed our last game back to December 7th.

Most lads enjoyed a long break resting after a great start to the season, but maybe enjoyed it abit too much with no training or games we jumped straight back into a Local derby at Home against Hensall Hawks.

With our Clubs social admin gone AWOL from all platforms since November, the club Chairman will step in till further notice so bare with us

Heading into this game the Management team looked at this game hoping to just sneak a win, but with the lack of games and fitness working against us ,we accepted a heavy defeat on home turf, against a well drilled Hensall who looked fresh and ready. We take a few positives from the game and hope to build on them for our next game against Edlington in the cup.

The clubs Head coach Adam Curley said this after the game in his team talk at full time “Let’s go for a Pint” which sums up the long time off and lack of training.

Over the next couple of days we will catch up with our players of the month, upcoming fixtures and more.

BACK TO BACK WINS AGAIN FOR UNITED.

Welcome back, and apologies for the lack of updates on the team over the last few weeks! Anyone associated with grassroots football will tell you balancing work, family & helping your local football team can be challenging, but rewarding regardless!

After making it 8 wins from 8, United went and lost 2 on the bounce. However United go back to ways against Yorkshire Grey with a 3-0 win and back to title challenging with a 9-1 win on Sunday against AFC Langold. Rawcliffe still sit second, 3 points behind leaders ZK Dons with Rawcliffe playing an extra game, however we’ve still to play the leaders this season which could be the deciding factor on how Rawcliffe titles ambitions go.

RAWCLIFFE BRIDGE V KINSLEY BOYS SUNDAY 12TH OCTOBER.

After 3 games on the trot away from home, Rawcliffe come back to bridge park to face last week opponents Kinsley Boys.

A 1-0 win last week continued the lads winning streak to 7 games from 7 in the league, Adam Curley will making looking to make sure that continues and aims for 8 in 8 and we continue to go toe to toe at the top of the table.
