Launched in 2010, Thanet Athletics Club has quickly become a well-known club within Kent, offering training to compete in sports-hall, track and field and cross country competitions! The club is based at the Royal Harbour Academy, offering training for all abilities age 7 and above.

As a club with athletes ranging in both abilities and age, we aim to compete in various leagues and individual com

petitions including the Kent Young Athletes League, Southern Athletics League, County Championships and many others. Follow us on social media, to keep up with the latest news, results and events!

Since COVID-19, we have worked hard as a club to try and ensure the correct measures are taken to allow safe training. For this reason, we ask that all athletes now using the booking system on the website before coming to training to allow coaches to be prepared for the number of athletes training.

We are finally, finally back on track at RHA!

The full range of track and field activities is once again open, and it feels fantastic to be back.

Thanks to the support of the Coastal Academy, TDC, Ramsgate Town Council, and other charitable organisations, we now have some of the newest athletics facilities in Kent. πŸ’ͺ

We’re awaiting confirmation of our licence application and hope to resume hosting athletics competitions soon.

A huge thank you to everyone who supported us and persevered through the difficult times.

Athletics is back in Thanet! πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸŽ‰

Ray Butler completed his fifth London marathon recently in an amazing time of 3 hours 52 minutes!

Representing Thanet Athletics Club at the tender age of 79!

Ray’s back story is fascinating. He only took up running in his sixties after a work colleague had a triple by-pass and advised to get fit, dragged him along. Ray took to the treadmill and progressed to running outside increasing his distance, eventually taking his first marathon.

He has consistently recorded sub four-hour marathons and is currently 22nd in the world. Ray is an inspiration to us all, young and old and we’re so pleased he’s a member of Thanet Athletics Club πŸ’ͺ

At the end of January, Bethany and Gracie took centre stage at the National Combined Events Championships staged at the National Indoor Arena in Sheffield.

Beth’s overall score was 2900 and placed her 15th.

Gracie (competing in her first ever National Combined Events Championships), finished with 1791 points.

Both girls battled extremely well considering they can only get to an athletics track once a week by travelling over an hour to get there ‼️
