After all the excitement of the Auction and Raffle for the where over £3000 was raised!!!
I'm in my happy place starting to instal my kinetic ceramic piece at Monkton Nature Reserve A little peak in the photo of what you might expect to see!
It was a hive of activity there today with lots of installing happening ready for the opening on Saturday 11 May.
What a wonderful event to be happening here in Thanet.

a HUGE thank you for all those who donated, bid and bought raffle tickets for the Monkton Sculpture Trail.. over £3000 was raised!!
As an independently funded event this will contribute to a catalogue, workshops, and financial contribution to the people and organisations who are creating fabulous work for Monkton Nature Reserve

NOW needs you to visit the Reserve. The soft opening is Saturday 11 May 2024.
The sculptures will be at the Reserve till September.
There will be events during this time so visit often. There will be postings of events. If the unique environment and sculpture isn't enough to entice you, there is also an exceptional second hand bookshop, tiny museum, and a coffee shop selling the best carrot cake...

Southern Water have finally confirmed to me that they will not pay for independent water testing. Despite their clear need to rebuild trust with the public, (and bill payer). We really need transparency and honesty from SW! Currently this looks like a total greenwash!

How can we trust them to keep our sea and rivers clean? If they won’t listen or respond to the local community.

“Parliamentary committee highlights poor water quality
A report from the Commons Environmental Audit Committee has warned that a "chemical cocktail" of sewage, slurry and plastic polluting England's rivers is putting public health and nature at risk. The report highlights chronic under-investment, and it also "uncovered multiple failures in the monitoring, governance and enforcement on water quality". No river in England can be given a clean bill of health, the group of MPs on the committee concluded. Recommendations include penalising water companies - and their bosses - more heavily for sewage discharge. Each river should have a designated bathing area by 2025, it also suggests.”
