Big thank you to our volunteer Stuart Bourne, who was out this morning checking on the willow den and giving it its annual tidying up.

Would you believe it’s been 3 years since we first planted it in the Rec.

Great to see the autumn colour coming through the liquidambar we planted several years ago. Once this fully matured it’ll be a fantastic display each year.

Other than the chance to meet so many other people working hard to improve our environment, we’ve also heard that the council will be giving away some tree whips to plant in your garden.

Coming up in Rochester on Saturday 18th November, 10am to 1pm at Baptist Church Hall, Crow Lane, Rochester, ME11RF.

We have definitely reached the season of mellow fruitfulness! Watts Meadow is full of berries: blackberries, rosehips, sloes, blackthorn, privet and rowan. The ivy flowers are a mass of bees too, and while walking in the top part of the site, I was surrounded by a flock of at least a dozen long tailed t**s - feasting among the wild clematis and seedheads.
