A message from Rainford Table Tennis Club chairman Geoff Pye
My summer was spent practising as usual but was then interrupted by a call up to the England veterans
team for a series of games against a Wales veterans team. An international cap followed up by a trophy
made it a summer to remember.
Getting back to club business, just like everyone else it's been a long hard struggle to get back to partial normality but finally we are emerging
from the darkest days and once again the club is in full swing as we approach a new season.
The Wigan Table Tennis League is operating at reduced capacity for obvious reasons and therefore, our participation
will also be slightly scaled back. The league will consist of three divisions with a limited number of teams
in each, clubs will play against each other several times over the course of the season, not ideal but as they say - needs must.
Rainford will field four teams, one in division one, one in division two and two in division three.
I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all members and volunteers who continued to support the club during the most
difficult period we have experienced in our 12 year history but now that loyalty will be rewarded with healthy competition
and who knows maybe, just maybe a new clubhouse!
Best of luck to all team members and remember to enjoy yourselves and have fun because Rainford TTC was built
on the principal of togetherness as our club badge proudly declares:
"Many Teams One Club".
