Huge congratulations to Mark who has worked incredibly hard over the last week on his brand new JJ-CCR rebreather & successfully completing his TDI 45m trimix qualification (Helitrox) with us at Vobster Quay today! 😎

Mark completed his entry level open circuit technical training with us last year and it was great to see he’s remained incredibly sharp with his technical skills in the water, adapting them to the closed circuit environment with ease.

Please join us in congratulating Calum Sherriff & Charlie Kruger on passing their Technical Diving International JJ-CCR 45m trimix (Helitrox) course at Vobster Quay Inland Diving Centre today! Both have stepped up from the Air diluent 30m course they both completed with us well over a year ago and getting the necessary hours experience on their rebreathers since.

It’s been a busy few and very long days in and and out of the water with revision on a lot of topics and skills whilst learning new ones along the way too, such as the effects, hazards & benefits of diving with helium & getting to dive it in their rebreathers whilst executing a meaty decompression schedule. Bailouts followed by open circuit gas switches whilst following a decompression schedule with an SMB deployed and buddy breathing a deco gas are amongst the most complex skills they had to perform and did a sterling job, fair play!

They’ve both now firmly made the transition from recreational diving into the technical diving world & are now both Technical Rebreather Divers!! 👏 👏

Massive congratulations both, thoroughly well deserved, great work - Be proud of your achievements! ✊😎

Huge congratulations to Connor Otteson on making the grade today on his TDI 45m Trimix Helitrox decompression qualification dive with 85 minutes in the water, he now joins the few divers who earn the right to be called Technical Divers. No mean feat at the age of 20, your hard work & steadfast dedication has paid off over the last several weeks, well done! 👏 👏 👏

Huge congratulations to Vissa who successfully completed his TDI JJ-CCR Rebreathers 45m Helitrox course at Vobster Quay Inland Diving Centre.

Already an OC Normoxic trimix diver and JJ-CCR air diluent diver, he’s not been technical diving for around eight years and then it was in the Far East & not in a drysuit. So first, we had a day of single tank diving to complete his Dive RAID International Drysuit course before the technical package commenced.

Lots of refreshing on all matter of technical dive theory from the subject of diving with helium, gradient factors, gas calculations to gas density; it was a steep learning curve for him both in and out of the water. UK technical diving is certainly somewhat different to warmer climes in a wetsuit.

Well worked and thoroughly well deserved Vissa, you should be justifiably proud of your achievements, great stuff!!! 👏

Interesting topic and very useful survey for those holding an Advanced Nitrox qualification or higher to complete…

In-water recompression (IWR) is a controversial topic in dive medicine. Some view it as a lifesaving last resort for a diver exhibiting symptoms of decompression illness (DCI) when far from definitive care. Others emphasize the evident risk of potentially making a bad situation worse.

While return to pressure is the basic rationale for DCS treatment, IWR's effectiveness and safe implementation depend heavily on conditions, protocols, and diver preparedness. Emerging guidance suggests IWR may be considered only in specific, controlled circumstances, particularly in remote locations where access to a hyperbaric chamber is delayed or unavailable.

The goal for our new anonymous online survey is simple: to understand what the diving community actually thinks and knows about IWR, what training divers have, and whether people are incorporating IWR into real-world emergency planning despite the controversy. Participation is open to adults (18+) who hold an Advanced Enriched Air Nitrox (>40% oxygen) certification or higher. The survey is available in English, French, Italian, and Spanish, and is hosted on a secure online platform.

Has been an awesome couple of days familiarising you with your new purchase after doing this course on another unit. Lots of discussions on a host of topics both theory and unit related over the last couple of days and some great dives conducted.

Huge congratulations Irmantas and Mark on passing your Technical Diving International 45m Decompression Procedures Helitrox mixed gas course with us today!

Busy days over the last few weeks cementing & applying lots of decompression theory to our diving. Lots of in water skills and task loading made for some great diving development, improving your confidence and competence.

A fantastic 70 odd minute trimix deco qualification dive culminating with some emergency drills after our deco had at Vobster Quay Inland Diving Centre today. Great work gents! 👏

All your hard work has eventually paid off, thoroughly well deserved, you are now both Technical Divers!
