Mat2Life Yoga & Therapy

Mat2Life Yoga & Therapy Forrest Yoga, Yin Yoga, Meditation & Ceremony. Massage Therapist and Aromatherapist We offer one to one bespoke sessions and group classes/workshops.

Mat2Life Yoga & Therapy delivers yoga and meditation classes in a safe, learning environment in Norfolk and online. Each student is listened to, cared for and taught the yoga techniques and poses they need to take them from the mat into daily life. One to one tuition is a great way of building a complete practice to address your specific injuries, pain or stresses. Forrest Yoga was created by Ana

T Forrest over 30 years ago and constantly develops. This style of yoga specifically addresses physical and emotional challenges brought about by injury, old pain patterns, illness and emotional stress. Forrest yoga connects you to your core and gets you strong – every pose has a reason. There are four gateways to radiant health: Nutrition, posture, emotion, posture and structure. Posture is classed as a blockage and affects alignment and emotion resides in our tissue which affects our posture. It is energy in motion. Yoga can unwind and reverse this process. Juliet is a qualified Forrest Yoga Teacher and qualified/licensed Aromatherapist (International Institute of Health and Holistic Therapies). Fully insured by the Yoga Alliance Professionals, fully accredited and first-aid trained. Visit www.mat2life.co.uk for more details or contact us via this page.

"Greece is the country that offers you the discovery of yourself"

Lawrence Durrell 1912-1990

This trip has been all about self-discovery. So much has changed for me since I was last here in 2022.

Travelling alone has given me a real sense of freedom and space to breathe. South Corfu offers a welcome contrast to what can sometimes feel like a busy, fast-paced life back home. It has given me time to slow down, reflect, recharge and appreciate all that I have.

Solo travel can feel a little daunting at first but, again, it's been one of the most rewarding experiences I've had.

Some highlights from this week:

πŸ₯‡ Adventure – cycling 108km over two days and making it to Chlomos, known as the Balcony of Corfu. This beautiful 13th-century village sits 300 metres above sea level with incredible views across the Ionian Sea.

πŸ§˜πŸ»β€β™€οΈ Yoga – moving and stretching each morning while looking out over the sea, followed by a refreshing dip in the ocean.

🚢🏻 Exploring – wandering through Corfu Old Town and soaking up its architecture, philosophy and mythology.

⛴️ Boat trip – heading out onto the water to the south lagoon and Electra Botanical Gardens in Notos 🌺. A sign at the entrance reads, "You are entering an absolute stress-free zone" – and it genuinely feels that way.

🫢🏼 People – the local Corfu community has made this trip even more special. I've had some lovely conversations and made memories I'll treasure.

πŸŒ… Greek swallows and sunsets – every evening brought a beautiful display of swooping swallows against skies painted with oranges, pinks, blues and lilacs.

🐟 Food and drink – fresh fish, moussaka and local Greek wine... enough said πŸ’‹

✌️ Relaxation – enjoying a slower pace and spending a little less time watching the clock.

I hope you all have a wonderful summer and get the chance to enjoy some rest, adventure and sunshine wherever you find yourselves.

I can't wait to see you back in class next week. I'll be bringing a little Greek magic with me πŸ˜‰

EfharistΓ³ Corfu, until next time πŸ™

I have a few spaces available for tomorrow's YIN class.

A typical Yin Yoga class is a slower and softer-paced style of yoga, incorporating principles of traditional Chinese medicine, with asanas (postures) that are held for longer periods of time than in other styles.

Yin targets the deep connective tissues, bones, joints, fascia, and ligaments in the body. During this time, there is a deep focus on breathing, release and 'relaxing into the pose'.

Yin is very beneficial to those wishing to stay mobile, flexible and healthy πŸ’–

When heart and breathing rates align πŸ’–.

This isn't woo hoo stuff but fact πŸ‘ŠπŸΌ.

Beethoven's Symphony No.7 in A-Major does just this and we experienced it today in a community space in Quorn πŸ™

It seems my personal story resonated with many souls today.

This beautiful group of human beings were guided into 4 types of pranayama this morning - to support them when the winds of change come knocking at their door:

πŸ’« Soft belly breathing (3-part)
πŸ’« Ujjayi breathing
πŸ’« Brahmari
πŸ’« Alternate Nostril breathing.

How does change feel for you at the moment it happens? Do you welcome it in or slam the door?

Bakasana (Crow pose) is a great test of feeling the fear and doing it anyway as demonstrated here by Fi Hollas πŸ’ͺ🏼

Our morning ended in beauty 🌺

Our next workshop will take place on Saturday 4 July, book here https://bookwhen.com/mat2life-yoga-therapy

Turn on your speakers πŸ”Š and listen to that harmony!

Brahmari (bee breath) pranayama 🐝

Why do we do it? This pranayama regulates blood pressure (and other involuntary bodily systems), calms the nervous system and improves memory and focus 🧠 ❀️

It also shifts one's energetic state from 'fight or flight' to 'rest and digest'.

Spent much of this morning leaping around and hanging upside down at Bungee Fitness Leicester 🀸🏽

Cracking workout, exhilarating and good fun whilst feeling safely supported. As my friends and I left, we felt uplifted and relaxed at the same time.

Inversions (going upside down) have many health benefits. Not only do they lift our mood, reverse the aging process and support our endocrine system but they also restore and aid sleep. I'm off for a nana nap 🀣

I'm going to be arranging a session here for 12 of us one Saturday afternoon πŸ₯°. Watch this space...

Ancient Greek Philosopher, Heractilus, said "The only constant in life is change".

Whether we like it or not, the process of change and transformation is happening all around us everyday but, how we react to it, is a personal process and isn't an easy one.

Quite often our 'go-to' feeling is anxiety (hello Amygdala!) and that's normal because anxiety is the body's way of signifying 'change ahead'.

Our next session on 9 May will explore how we can use varying styles of breath to create different and supporting experiences for us.

The morning will start with Forrest Yoga to connect us to core and get us feeling what's surfacing in each of us at this time. We then indulge in Ayurvedic tea and homemade cake and end with a guided breathwork meditation, designed to cultivate a sense of calm and ease.

Being a qualified Aromatherapist, I also introduce you to the therapeutic benefits of essential oils which have a direct impact on the limbic part of our brain 🌺.

🦚 Feeling the sh*t or feeling the shift? Only you can choose which one nourishes you and which one starves you.
