Sun’s out- runs out! 🌞 🏃🏼♂️
Deestriders have a club competition each year called parkrun (small ‘p’) Blitz. Organised by Paul ‘Fred’ Aird, there are key dates throughout the year at which members take part in a parkrun and are scored based on their age graded result. It is a bit more complicated than that, but we’ll spare you the details! The main thing is it’s a morning out, usually with a breakfast option and a shot at a trophy at the annual awards night, and did we mention a bit of running. 🏆 😋
Whilst any parkrun registered as a Deestrider is acceptable, bonus points are awarded for doing a certain one and this month it was Alderford Lake in Whitchurch. 9 members, some with family, went on tour to Shropshire to complete the grassy course. Meanwhile, other Striders competed in events near and far from home.
On Sunday, David Temple completed the Cheshire 10k in 45:43, showcasing an upswing in form in very warm conditions.
To those lucky enough to be able to enjoy the Bank Holiday, do enjoy it- don’t forget sunscreen, water and possibly even insect repellent if you’re getting out and about! ☀️ 💦 🦟
