he original village type grounds that you find dotted around the English countryside and offers that rural feel to the game, whilst also offering modern playing and training facilities. In 2012 our brand new state of the art pavilion was officially opened by Ashes winning Captain, Mike Gatting. Since then we have also added a second pitch complete with its own state-of-the-art changing facilities. In 2021, the 1st XI will compete in the Premier Division of the Shropshire County Cricket League. 2nd XI play in Division 4 and our 3rd XI will compete in Division 7. Both the 1st and 2nd XI won their respective regional group in a truncated 2020 season. The 1st XI also play in the Swancote Energy Smash 100-ball tournament, which we won in 2020 and will look to repeat to feat in 2021. We also have a midweek side competing in in the Wilden Industrial Estates Cricket League, comprising of mostly junior players. In addition, we run Sunday friendly fixtures through the season to ensure all our members get time on the field. In 2021, the Women's 1st XI were expected to compete in the West Midlands Women's Cricket League Premier Division after winning Division 1 in 2019. We also have an Active Women's team that play on Thursday nights in the Shropshire Women's and Girls League. We also enter ECB softball competitions on Sundays in the local area. Our Girls and Ladies section was established in 2001 and continues to grow with players from all over Shropshire and the West Midlands now playing for the team. Our junior membership has grown to over 100 junior members. In 2019, we ran 6 junior teams including an under 9s softball team, under 10s, under 11s, under 13s and an under 15s team. In addition to our junior teams we also run a Colts team in the local adult midweek league to aid the progression of our junior players into adult cricket. QCC caters for junior players of all ages, gender and ability. Above all Quatt Cricket Club offers an enjoyable atmosphere and a sporting calendar that can be thoroughly enjoyed by all who take part. We welcome all who would like to become part of our ever developing club.

Quatt U17s have been crowned the first-ever winners of the Shropshire U17 T20 County Cup, following an excellent 50-run victory over Whitchurch in the final at Wroxeter Cricket Club.

Having won the toss, Quatt elected to bat and set about building a competitive total. It was an all-round batting performance, with contributions throughout the order.

The innings started at great pace, with Jack Sherrard and Evan Poole setting the tone brilliantly and putting Quatt on the front foot from the outset.

As the innings progressed, Player of the Match Bertie Kyte produced a fantastic innings to anchor the Quatt total. Kyte batted with great composure and aggression, falling agonisingly short of his retirement at 50, as Quatt finished on an impressive 135/8 from their 20 overs.

With 135 on the board, we set about the second innings with exactly the attitude required for a cup final.

The tone was set from the very first over, with some excellent fielding immediately putting pressure on the Whitchurch batsmen. We continued to go from strength to strength, maintaining the intensity in the field and creating opportunities throughout the innings.

Two excellent run-outs from Tom O’Donnell and Josh Hulland provided the early breakthroughs we were looking for and put Whitchurch under significant pressure.

From there, the wickets were shared around the bowling attack, with everyone contributing to what was a superb team bowling performance. Ben Musgrave was the pick of the bowlers, taking three wickets as we steadily dismantled the Whitchurch innings.

Whitchurch were eventually bowled out for 85 in 18.5 overs, handing us a comprehensive 50-run victory and, more importantly, the title of the first-ever Shropshire U17 T20 County Cup champions.

It has been a fantastic journey for this U17 group. On their route to the final, they had already overcome two seriously strong sides in Codsall and Wellington, making today’s achievement even more impressive.

To come through such a competitive competition and then produce a performance like this in the final is a great reward for the players and everyone involved with the U17 side.

Huge congratulations to all the players, coaches, parents and supporters who have contributed throughout the competition.

Our Under 15s’ brilliant Hundred journey came to an end at New Road on Sunday, where they faced a very strong Ombersley side in the Worcestershire Cricket Foundation Under 15s final.

I had the privilege of scoring the match, and although it wasn’t the result we had all hoped for, it was a very proud day for everyone connected with our club. Watching this group walk out at New Road and compete in a county final was incredibly special.

Ombersley batted first and put together an impressive 169 for one from their 100 balls. We kept going throughout, working hard in the field against two very well-set batters.
Tom O’Donnell bowled a controlled spell, delivering an excellent 14 dot balls from his 20. Anna Hurford also bowling well, with eight dot balls from 15, while Alex Judson-Owen conceded just 16 runs from his ten deliveries. Josh Hulland claimed our only wicket, finishing with 1 for 33.

Chasing a challenging 170, we lost captain Jacob Miller early, but Josh responded with a confident and exciting innings of 30 from just 20 balls, including three sixes and a four before being drawn down the wicket and stumped.
Tom then played a fantastic innings on a very special stage. He reached 52 from just 37 balls, hitting four sixes and three fours before retiring not out. It was a great performance that kept us fighting until the end.

Anna added ten, while Oliver Parkhill and Ollie Capewell both contributed six. We completed our 100 balls on 120 for seven, with Ombersley winning by 49 runs.

Of course our U15s were disappointed not to win, but that result should not take anything away from what they have achieved again this season. Reaching a Worcestershire final and having the opportunity to play at New Road is something they will hopefully remember for a very long time.

Congratulations to Ombersley Cricket Club, who were deserved winners, and a heartfelt well done to every one of our players. Thank you also to the coaches, parents and supporters who have encouraged them throughout such a memorable season.
It was a real privilege to score the match and to have one of the best seats in the ground for such a proud moment in our club’s history.

These juniors are the future! 💛💚
