Whiteleaf Golf Club

Whiteleaf Golf Club Whiteleaf Golf Club

As one of the most picturesque courses on which you can play golf in Buckinghamshire, we pride ourselves on the challenge we can provide to the low handicap golfer with our outstanding well protected greens, whilst at the same time providing the opportunity to those less experienced golfers to improve their game. Established in 1907, and designed by Harry C**t, the renowned golf course architect,

you will be able to enjoy some wonderful scenery to accompany your golfing experience, followed by our well known hospitality in the clubhouse thereafter. Come and see for yourself why we pride ourselves on the description "The hidden gem in the heart of the Chilterns"

We look forward to welcoming you to Whiteleaf Golf Club

Good morning all. Tom and I have been busy building an ark and praying for it to stop raining. Unsuccessfully it would seem!

With that in mind it will
come as no surprise to learn that the course is extremely wet, we will be doing what we can to spread the wear but please be extra careful if you are out on the course over the next few days.

There will be a few changes to roped areas and we will distribute and email later outlining these and any specific areas that we will be asking you to avoid.

Your continued support is hugely appreciated.

The Greens Team carried out a course inspection this morning. The Greens are still frozen solid with a slight thaw on the top 1cm.

It is unlikely they will thaw sufficiently for main greens to be back in play until early next week, but we will of course carry out regular reassessments and advise accordingly.

It is pretty grim out today, windy and cold, but the clubhouse is as always warm and welcoming, Jo and the team would love to see you.

Good morning. Well after a lot of weather watching over the last 48 hours it would appear that we’ve avoided the worst of the snow.

A full course inspection will be carried out around 7.30am and an update on course status provided. I suspect the course will show signs of widespread flooding as the ground was still frozen yesterday afternoon.

The Club V1 app isn’t sending out notifications at the moment but any change in status will be visible via the app directly, club website and page.

Further to our earlier post, the course is open for play with temporary greens in operation. The course is frozen throughout and as it thaws will become extremely slippery in places so please keep your wits about you as you navigate your way round.

The forecast for Friday and the weekend threatens more snow, and again next week.

We will ensure you are updated as early as possible on Friday depending on how the overnight storm affects the course.

A full course inspection and update will be carried out from 7.30am this morning. Once this is complete around 9am we hope to be able to reopen, most likely with temporary greens in operation.

Unfortunately it would appear (on arrival at least) that there has been very little change in the course conditions over the last 24 hours.

Holes 5-9 are still unplayable with the 1st fairway looking less snow covered thanks to the locals tobogganing over the last couple of days.

I’ll head out shortly to assess the rest of the course but I think it’s safe to say the course will remain shut. I’ll share some more photos too.

So frustrating but our position on the edge of the Chiltern Hills, our northerly aspect and lack of sunlight at the top of the course certainly hamper any chance of a thaw without warmer temperatures and / or rain.

The clubhouse will remain open and both car parks are accessible but please take care as there are still some patches of ice / snow about.

The course will remain shut today. Primarily because there is still enough snow to make the course (even with temporary greens) unplayable. It’s also extremely icy and slippery as the two Greenkeeper shaped snow angels will attest to! The clubhouse remains open and the car parks are both accessible. Various photos included, alas no snow angels.

Happy New Year! The course is currently closed. There is a dusting of snow across the course, with both main and temporary greens unplayable at present. The top half of the course (holes 1 & 5-9) has significantly more snow. I’ve attached some photos to demonstrate conditions. A further update will be provided around 11am. The clubhouse is open but please avoid using the rear car park. Thank you.

Good morning. An update on course conditions from a chilly and rainy Whiteleaf has been shared via the Club V1 app.

To expand slightly holes 1,2,4,6,8 & 9 remain on temporary greens as the main surfaces are still frozen to varying degrees of depth.

These will thaw fully as the day progresses which will allow the rain to drain through and we should be back on main greens tomorrow morning.

While the greens look playable this is a period of considerable risk as explained in yesterday’s email.

Many thanks

The Greens Team

A quick update for members on course conditions today.

All snow melted by late afternoon yesterday, temperatures dropped to around -3C here last night and with the course being wet anyway the ground froze.

It’s now thawing slowly but we will remain on temporary greens today. We will share course conditions as early as we can tomorrow and of course will have an eye on the weather for the weekend too.

Good morning all. Further to the earlier post I’ve just walked the course again. Some photos are included. The course will remain closed to golfers today, the clubhouse however is open and Golf Club Lane and the car park are accessible safely.

With freezing temperatures overnight for the next two days there may be some additional disruption to play. We will of course update members via the usual channels, email, club V1 app and here on Facebook.
