Batting Honours Board Update 🏏

Congrats to Vamsi Pothumarthi on adding his name to the batting honours board after a quite frankly outrageous knock of 80 against Great Eccleston this past weekend. With a mix of innovation and just outright brute force it was a pleasure to witness one of the best knocks you’ll ever see

Gameweek 8 results 🏏

Both teams were in action this past weekend the 1st XI travelled away to Great Eccleston and the 2nd XI were at home to Longridge.

1st XI - Away vs Great Eccleston

The first team were on the road this week and continued their great form picking up their 5th win in a row against Great Eccleston. Batting first we got off to a shaky start losing a few early wickets but Pradeep (40) and Smithy (30) battled hard to get us back on track. This partnership set the platform for Vamsi to come in and play a destructive innings scoring 80 with some of the most outrageous and brutal shots you will see to get us up to 201.

With the ball the skipper Andy Hogarth and Suraj combined to take 5-43 in a brilliant opening spell of bowling from each to put the pressure on Gt Ecc and help wrap up an 89 run victory.

2nd XI - Home vs Longridge

The second team hosted Longridge down at Bush Lane on Saturday losing by 6 wickets against a strong Longridge side. Batting first we made 125-7 from our 40 overs. Jon Goodin top scored with 25 and a good partnership at the end of the innings from Chris Macken and TJ who both scored 23* Unfortunately it wasn’t enough and Longridge wrapped up the victory in 27 overs.

Gameweek 7 Results 🏏

Both teams were in action on Saturday with the 1st team picking up a great win at home to Euxton. The 2nd team had a tough day on the road suffering a defeat away to Rufford.

1st XI - Home vs Euxton

The 1st team continued their great form picking up a huge win at home to Euxton. Batting first we were in a lot of trouble at 60-5 but thanks to a fantastic 91 off 69 balls from the skipper Andy Hogarth and top knocks of 28 from Sam Khan and 26 from Suraj we managed to post 248/9 from our 45 overs.

Although it was a very good score we knew it was going to be tough to defend on a good batting pitch and lightning outfield. All of the bowlers chipped in with wickets but it was the catching that made the difference with all 8 wickets being caught out thanks to scoreboard pressure and the run rate creeping up all the time. A great win and a fantastic all round team performance.

2nd XI - Away vs Rufford

It was tough day for the 2nd team away at Rufford. Bowling first on a hot day we started well with a couple of early wickets but a 116 run partnership in the middle overs put our bowlers under pressure. The lads bounced back though and took all the bonus points bowling Rufford out for 196.

With the bat we made a good start with JJ scoring 28 and the returning on loan Dents top scoring with 31. Unfortunately wickets started to fall and we were bowled out for 93. Although the result didn’t go our way it was a top effort from everyone and 4 important points picked up.

Gameweek 6 Results 🏏

It was a great weekend for the club with both the 1st and 2nd team picking up wins on Saturday and bringing home maximum points.

1st XI - Away vs Standish

The 1st team continued their great run of form over the past few weeks with a win over Standish. Bowling first on a hot day the skipper Andy Hogarth lead the attack brilliantly taking 4-33. A brilliant 13 over spell from Ravi taking 3-58 and taking a couple of catches helped keep the score under 200 on a good pitch.

Requiring 186 to win the run chase was timed perfectly. The in form Smithy and Rajith both scored 37 to set the platform for Vamsi to finish the innings with some outrageous power hitting scoring 45* and pick up a 4 wicket victory.

2nd XI - Home vs St Anne’s

The 2nd team hosted St Anne’s down at Bush Lane looking for their first win of the season. Batting first we put on another big score with Pradeep getting us off to a flyer scoring a quick fire 30 opening the batting. A brilliant 77 from Sai showed the hard work in the nets paying off and pushed us up to 184 in our innings.

With the ball we were excellent putting St Anne’s under pressure from the start with great spells from Sam Khan 1-21 from 10 overs and Frosty 1-14 from 6 overs. The pick of the bowling came from Nav Khan taking 3-16 and fittingly Sai rounding off a POTM performance with 3-19 to win the game.
