Triumphant Typhoons Secure More Silverware
Today, the Under-8s Typhoons travelled to Fleetwood to compete in the Fleetwood Gym Football Festival — and returned home as champions.
The group stage proved to be a mixed bag of results, but the boys delivered strong performances throughout. Going into their final group match, the Typhoons knew they needed a victory by at least two goals to reach the Cup semi-finals. They rose to the challenge in style, securing a convincing 3-0 win to book their place in the last four.
The semi-final against Blackburn Eagles was a tense and exciting affair, finishing 1-1 after normal time. That meant penalties, and the drama only intensified. Goalkeeper Henry produced a heroic save with the final penalty of the shootout to keep his team alive, before Jaxon stepped up and calmly converted the winning spot-kick in sudden death to send the Typhoons into the final against Preston City.
The final was a thrilling end-to-end contest, with both sides creating chances in a game that somehow finished 0-0. Once again, penalties would decide the outcome.
Just like in the semi-final, the shootout went to sudden death. And once again, Henry proved to be the hero. The young goalkeeper confidently scored his penalty before making a crucial save to deny the opposition and seal victory for the Typhoons.
Champions!
Everyone at the club is incredibly proud of the boys. They gave 100% in every game, showed tremendous determination and teamwork throughout the day, and fully deserved their success.
This latest triumph marks the Typhoons’ third trophy in just two seasons — a fantastic achievement for a brilliant group of players. 🏆⚽👏
