Triumphant Typhoons Secure More Silverware

Today, the Under-8s Typhoons travelled to Fleetwood to compete in the Fleetwood Gym Football Festival — and returned home as champions.

The group stage proved to be a mixed bag of results, but the boys delivered strong performances throughout. Going into their final group match, the Typhoons knew they needed a victory by at least two goals to reach the Cup semi-finals. They rose to the challenge in style, securing a convincing 3-0 win to book their place in the last four.

The semi-final against Blackburn Eagles was a tense and exciting affair, finishing 1-1 after normal time. That meant penalties, and the drama only intensified. Goalkeeper Henry produced a heroic save with the final penalty of the shootout to keep his team alive, before Jaxon stepped up and calmly converted the winning spot-kick in sudden death to send the Typhoons into the final against Preston City.

The final was a thrilling end-to-end contest, with both sides creating chances in a game that somehow finished 0-0. Once again, penalties would decide the outcome.

Just like in the semi-final, the shootout went to sudden death. And once again, Henry proved to be the hero. The young goalkeeper confidently scored his penalty before making a crucial save to deny the opposition and seal victory for the Typhoons.

Champions!

Everyone at the club is incredibly proud of the boys. They gave 100% in every game, showed tremendous determination and teamwork throughout the day, and fully deserved their success.

This latest triumph marks the Typhoons’ third trophy in just two seasons — a fantastic achievement for a brilliant group of players. 🏆⚽👏

The Freckleton Juniors U7 Scorpions took part in the Jordan Banks Cup on Saturday. The team consisted of Austin, Alfie, Albie, Bear, Leighton and Johnny however the team was missing two of their regulars ( Thomas and Oscar).

On a day that was filled with tremendous spirit and cheer in memory of Jordan, teams throughout the North West of England were there in strength and unity and hoping to lift the trophy.

The Scorpions were hot off the trail winning every game of the group stage and going into the knockout stages with the best goal difference and unbeaten streak of the day.

Goals from Albie, Bear, Johnny and Austin cemented their place into the knockout stages.

They breezed past the quarter finals but found themselves in a tricky semi final game match, which ended in penalties against a tough Workington side. Eventually the Scorpions came out on top with a fine penalty from Leighton and an even better save from Austin in sudden death to clinch a spot in the final.

The final awaited against Clifton Rangers, the Scorpions went into the game with tremendous belief but did show signs of nervousness, especially when going behind to an own goal resulting from an opposition corner, time was ticking but they tried their best to get back into the game but with the quick match format it proved a little too much.

The boys all had a great day representing Freckleton and are positive of the next tournament which they will be taking part in soon. Everybody had a fun and it was a really special day in memory of Jordan Banks.

Well done Freckleton Scorpions - finalists and runners up in the Jordan Banks Cup

This weekend saw our U7 Jaguars attend the annual JB7 Tournament in Blackpool. It was their first experience of one of these events and a great opportunity to strengthen their bond as a team and have lots of fun.

With the weather being so warm and the squad light on numbers, having three of the boys unavailable, meant it was always going to be a tough day on the pitch, as they faced some amazingly strong teams, some who had travelled long distances to compete, and some from a few levels higher in the Jags usual league.

Due to having a few players missing, it meant new positions and combinations for the Freck boys to get used to, this led to a slow start to the day, and a knock to their confidence, which took time to overcome, but they started to find their rythym at the end of the group stage, and in the quarter final, pushing two very good sides, from two divisions above, close, one being the eventual tournament winners.

Whilst it wasn't a great day results wise, exiting in the plate quarter final, everybody had an amazing day, and the boys really stuck together, showed great character, and most importantly had loads of fun together.

Well done Jaguars.

On Saturday our U9s took part in Thornton’s Summer Tournament and what a great day it was. The sun came out and the team just got better and better as the morning went on with only one goal conceded out of 11 games.
They went through the first stage confidently and then did amazing in the second stage playing some cracking football and working so hard together. Unfortunately the team lost in the semi finals on penalties which is always disappointing but part of the game! ⚽️

There was no way one person could have been picked for Player of the tournament as every single one of them played their socks off! ❤️

Charlie: Goals, assists and some great passing. Just got better and better as the day went on.

George J: Another who got better as the day went on and almost got the winner in the semi with a great effort but was denied by a better save from the Fleetwood keeper.

George S: Ferocious tackling wherever he played and provided the moment of the day scoring his 1st goal for the Reds with a stunning free kick.

Harry: Scored our 1st goal of the day with a vital last kick off the game equaliser and showed quality on the ball throughout.

James: On the scoresheet and put in all action performances all day long. Covered every blade of grass.

Killian: Rock solid in defence and also grabbed goals when playing striker. Worked his socks off!

Radmirs: Excellent wherever he played, particularly in defence. Another that grabbed himself a goal.

Toby: Toby did what Toby always does. Excellent all around play in every game from our mini Bryan Robson.

Ethan & Poppy (last but definitely not least): Absolutely superb performances from our goalkeeping double act who only conceded 1 goal between them in 11 matches! Phenomenal!

It was a fantastic event, really well organised and a great performance by the team ❤️

Hogan Shield Heartbreak for the Terrific Typhoons 🌪️⚽

Yesterday the Under-8s Typhoons played in the Hogan Shield Final at Bloomfield Road, taking on BJFF Phantoms in what proved to be an incredible game of football.

What an amazing experience for the boys — playing in a cup final at such a fantastic stadium and giving absolutely everything from start to finish.

The match was fiercely contested throughout, with both teams showing great determination and attacking intent.

It was the Phantoms who struck first, taking a 2–0 lead midway through the first half. But the Typhoons showed unbelievable character to battle back level at 2–2 thanks to two brilliant goals from Charlie.

Right on the stroke of half-time, the Phantoms managed to edge back in front to lead 3–2 at the break.

The second half brought more drama, with the Phantoms extending their lead to 5–2. But these Typhoons never give up.

Charlie completed a sensational four-goal performance to pull it back to 5–4 with just two minutes remaining, setting up a grandstand finish. Moments later, the ball found the net again and the celebrations erupted — only for the goal to be ruled out after the ball was judged to have gone out of play earlier in the move.

Final score: BJFF Phantoms 5 – 4 Typhoons

Despite the heartbreak at the final whistle, every single player should be immensely proud. The effort, teamwork, courage and determination shown throughout the game — and throughout the entire cup run — was absolutely outstanding.

We genuinely could not be prouder of this team. 🌪️👏

An unbelievable effort from the boys today to battle their way to the final at the St Annes Tournament. Every single player can be incredibly proud of what they achieved.

Finishing 4th in the group with two wins, Freckleton showed real character to progress, edging past St Annes Yellows in the quarter-final on penalties, before a fantastic semi-final win over St Annes Greens.

The final was an extremely close contest. I genuinely felt we had the slight upper edge, but two penalties conceded in normal time kept the score level and sent us to a second penalty shootout of the day. The lads were outstanding stepping up again — three top-quality penalties, all struck perfectly — but credit to the opposition keeper who produced a great save to claw the final one out of the top corner.

Goals in open play came from Harry, Oscar and Darcie, all well deserved.

Player Highlights
- Player of the Tournament: Everyone — a fantastic collective effort.
- Oliver was outstanding in goal all day, including a huge penalty save in the quarter-final.
- Lewis made countless clearances and showed some lovely touches in midfield.
- Oscar was excellent at right wing-back – great crosses, shots and important blocks.
- Jacob showed lovely skills on the left, consistently creating chances.
- Marshall was a dominant presence in midfield – a real destroyer, everywhere on the pitch (like a young Roy Keane!).
- Darcie showed tireless energy and drive and fully deserved his goal.
- Harry never stopped pressing their defence, and deserved his goal.
- Thomas showed real toughness playing on with a bad back — hopefully he’s okay.

Overall, it was chalk and cheese from last week— a massive step forward.

👏 Outstanding effort, boys.
