Fulwood Amateur AFC Fulwood Amateur play in North West Counties Northern league, with teams also in the West Lancashire League and Central Lancashire Junior Football League

CLUB HISTORY

Fulwood Amateur AFC were formed in 1924 and played their games on a field behind the Black Bull Hotel on Garstang RD before moving to a pitch on Watling St Rd using the Sumners Hotel for changing rooms. In 1928 we moved to the Lancashire Amateur League.

1937 saw the club win their first trophy when they beat South Salford, winning the Manchester and Salford Medical Charles Hospital

Cup. The following season we did the double, retaining the cup and winning the league. In 1955 the club purchased land at Grimsargh which proved to be sound investment. The club went through the 1950s winning a number of trophies before hitting a slump during the 60s. Things picked up again in the 1970s when Alan Kelly (PNE) took pre-season training and, despite his commitments at Deepdale, ran weekly sessions throughout the season. In 1971 the club were crowned champions. In 1974 the club's land in Grimsargh was marked for compulsory purchase so a new pitch was required and eventually in 1979 the club purchased land next to Preston Grasshoppers where we have been ever since. In 1992, Fulwood joined the West Lancashire League and in the following 26 years have won numerous cups and trophies including the Lancashire FA Amateur Shield four times
