Hewwo hoomans 👋🐾

Dad has left his phone unattended again…

So obviously I’m taking over his Instagram.

I’ve been listening to him talk to lots of people recently about the gym.

And apparently there are quite a few of you who are really nervous about going.

You think everyone is looking at you.

You don’t know what exercises to do.

You’re worried you’ll look stupid.

And sometimes you just don’t know where to start.

Dad tells me he used to feel exactly the same.

Which I find quite funny because nowadays he spends his days helping other people feel comfortable in the gym 😂

He says one of his favourite things is seeing someone go from:
“I don’t feel like I belong here…”
to…
“I actually feel confident walking through these doors now.”

And apparently that’s why he does what he does.

Not just to help people get stronger…

But to help people feel like they belong.

So if you’re someone who’s been putting off starting because you’re nervous…

Maybe Dad can help you.

I’m not sure what he charges though.

I normally get paid in chicken. 🐔

Anyway, I’m off for a walk.

Bark at you later,
Hector 🐾

Gym anxiety is one of the most common frustrations I have conversations about.

It’s the fear of feeling so out of place and self-conscious in a public space that you just cannot seem to make that first step into the facilities,

No matter how desperate you are to change.

It’s a horrible position to be in, and nobody deserves to feel this way

Because the gym environment is much more welcoming, friendly and supportive than you’ll know!

Do you resonate with any of these points below?

👇👇👇

1/ Everyone is Watching You

You walk into the gym and are immediately met with a busy gym floor..

Groups of people around the dumbbells, most machines being taken, every second treadmill taken up.

It literally makes you feel like every step you take, someone is watching you and judging you.

And it makes you feel so out of place, and you feel like a bag of nerves and an anxious wreck as soon as you enter the space.

2/ The Machines Frighten You

You look around all the resistance machines and you wish you had the “know how” to operate them.

You want to tighten up your bingo wings and have a bit of definition in your upper body,

But the chest press machine looks like a contraption that came out from a Saw movie.

You want to use it, but instead shy away from it incase you’re more afraid of not being able to work it and looking like a numpty.

3/ No Idea Where To Start

What’s the best machines to use to lose weight and tone up?

Do I run on the treadmill for half an hour? What are the best machines to use? Do I need to do 10 minute ab blasting circuits?

Not having an action plan can leave you like a rabbit in the headlights in the gym and make you feel so out of place like you don’t belong there.

It’s so overwhelming, your mind goes into overdrive and you question if you actually did the right thing taking out that gym membership.

Make no mistake, it’s tough to begin your health and fitness journey.

But just know, you’re not alone out there👊

My grandad asking me to go to the gym sparked something inside me that I hadn't felt for a long time — a flicker of hope.

Before that, I constantly felt anxious about the way I looked.

I didn't like the way my belly sat. I felt like I had a tyre around my waist.

Even on holiday, I wanted to sit with my top on because I hated the way my belly looked.

I felt uncomfortable, and it massively drained my confidence.

I remember thinking:

"Let's just give it a try."

The first few workouts weren't easy. I didn't really know what I was doing, and I certainly wasn't confident walking into the gym.

But I kept going.

I started strength training 3 times a week after school for around an hour.

The more I went, the more it became a habit.

Eventually, I actually started to enjoy it.

Body fat started coming down.
My clothes started feeling looser.
I could actually see my toes again. 😂
My strength increased.

But the biggest change wasn't just physical.

It was how I felt about myself.

I became more comfortable in the gym. People started giving me compliments.

Every little bit of progress gave me another boost of confidence.

I found strength in more than just my muscles.

I started finding it in myself.

Training became part of my life for the better. Not just because of how I looked, but because of what it did for me mentally too.

Going into the gym, switching off and having that mental switch became a game changer for me.

I didn't need some complicated plan.

I needed structure, consistency and something that fitted into my life.

That's what I want other people to know.

If you're feeling lost in yourself, anxious or unconfident, you don't have to stay there.

You can make a change, even with a busy lifestyle.

If you're in Blackpool or the surrounding area and you're feeling like I used to, I'm opening up 5 spaces to come and see me at Fortitude Fitness.

We'll look at what's holding you back, where you want to get to and what a realistic plan could look like around your life.

All completely free.

P.S Because this is free, i'm only offering it for the next 7 days ⏳️

You decide you're finally going to lose the body fat.

So you cut your calories.

You skip breakfast.

You make your portions smaller.

You cut out the foods you enjoy.

You tell yourself you're going to be “really good” this time.

And for a couple of weeks, it works.

The scales start moving.

But then…

You're constantly hungry.

Your energy is rubbish.

Your workouts feel harder.

You're thinking about food all day.

You have a stressful week and your plan goes out the window.

Then comes the weekend…

You overeat, feel guilty, and tell yourself you'll “start again Monday.”

Sound familiar? 👀

The problem isn't that you don't have enough willpower.

You may simply be trying to create a deficit that's too aggressive to sustain.

Fat loss doesn't require you to eat as little as humanly possible.

It requires you to eat enough below your maintenance calories to lose body fat, while still having enough food to train, recover, function and actually enjoy your life.

That might mean:

→ A moderate calorie deficit
→ Plenty of protein
→ Foods that keep you full
→ Strength training to maintain muscle
→ Enough flexibility to enjoy meals out
→ A plan that fits around your actual life

Because the goal isn't to see how little you can eat.

The goal is to find the most sustainable approach that gets you results 👊

You don't need another diet where you’re “perfect” for 2 weeks.

You need a plan you can still follow when life gets busy.

That was Stephen 8 weeks ago ⬆️

Like so many busy men, life had taken over.

Work was demanding. Stress was high. By the end of the day he was exhausted, grabbing whatever food was easiest, skipping meals.

He had no real structure, no plan, and despite wanting to drop bldy fat/feel his best, nothing seemed to stick 🤷‍♂️

The frustrating part?

He was trying.

But trying without direction leaves you feeling tired, stuck and wondering if you'll ever get back to feeling like yourself again.

So instead of throwing him on another restrictive diet or expecting him to live in the gym, we stripped everything back.

We looked at his entire day—from the moment he woke up until he went to bed.

✅ His nutrition. ✅ His training. ✅ His daily routine. ✅ His lifestyle. ✅ His goals.

Then we built a plan around his life!

Three 45-minute workouts each week. A simple balance of strength training and cardio. Nutrition that supported fat loss while improving his energy, recovery and performance. Weekly check-ins to celebrate the wins, solve the challenges and make small adjustments when needed.

Eight weeks later...

📉 5.5lbs down. 📏 A noticeably smaller waist. 💪 Feeling leaner and stronger. ⚡ More energy throughout the day. 🧠 Better focus at work. 😁 More confidence in himself.

This isn't just about losing 5.5lbs.

It's about waking up with more energy. Feeling confident in your own skin. Being healthier for your family. And finally having a plan that fits around your busy life instead of taking over it 🫶

If you're busy with work, kids and life, but you're fed up feeling tired, frustrated and stuck, know this...

You don't need perfection.

You need the right plan, the right support, and someone to keep you accountable.

Stephen is proof of what can happen when you stop guessing and start following a plan that works. 💙

Summer can make staying on track feel impossible ☀️

BBQs. Holidays. Weddings. Meals out. Drinks with friends.

And suddenly, it can feel like you have to choose between making progress and actually enjoying your life.

But you don’t 🤷‍♂️

If you’re consistent with your training, nutrition and activity throughout the week, you can create room for flexibility.

That means getting your training and cardio done consistently throughout the week.

Sticking to your nutrition/sticking to your meals throughout the week.

Keeping on top of your daily movement.

Then, when a social occasion comes around, you can enjoy yourself without feeling like you’ve “ruined everything.”

One meal doesn’t undo a consistent week.

The problem usually isn’t the meal out itself.

It’s when one meal turns into an entire weekend of overeating because you think:
“I’ve messed up now, so I may as well start again Monday.”

That all-or-nothing mindset is what keeps so many people stuck.

You don’t need to be perfect to make progress.

You need to be consistent enough that flexibility can fit into the bigger picture.

Because the goal isn’t to avoid BBQs, holidays, weddings and meals out all summer just to make progress.

The goal is to build an approach that allows you to work towards your goals while still enjoying your life. 🤝

Consistency over perfection. Always 💙💪
