Due to an exceptionally busy and super day yesterday as we came together to give our friend Kenny a fitting send-off, the club will be closing at 7:00 PM today.

Our volunteers have worked incredibly hard throughout the day and are now understandably tired, with no further volunteer cover available this evening.

Thank you all for your understanding and support. We appreciate everyone who joined us today to celebrate Kenny’s life.

💙 A Wonderful Send Off for Kenny Russell 💙

What a fantastic turnout as we came together to celebrate the life of Kenny Russell.

It was standing room only at the crematorium, with many more watching the live stream back at Potterspury Sports & Social Club. It really showed just how much Kenny meant to so many people, and the impact he had on everyone who knew him.

Dusty’s touching and humorous speech hit the spot perfectly. It captured Kenny so well, with the right mix of love, laughter and memories.

We would also like to share something very special with everyone. The painting of the cricket scene was painted by Alan Wakeman in 1988 and shows Kenny bowling and taking a wicket. It was purchased for Kenny by his dad and has now been kindly donated to the club by Kenny’s family.

We will be placing it on our wall with pride.

We have also placed a lasting tribute to Ken at the club, in the form of a plaque reserved for those who have done so much for Potterspury Sports & Social Club.

Thank you to everyone who attended, watched from the club, helped with the arrangements, shared memories, or simply raised a glass in Kenny’s honour.

Today was a true celebration of a much loved friend, family man, club member and part of our community.

Kenny will be deeply missed, but he will never be forgotten. 💙

The funeral directors have also kindly asked that anyone attending the crematorium waits outside and follows Kenny into the chapel. Due to the expected number of people attending, this will help make sure Kenny and his family are able to enter the chapel first and safely.

The club will still be open throughout the day and evening for anyone who would like to come together, pay their respects, share memories, and celebrate Kenny’s life.

Our thoughts remain with Kenny’s family, friends, and everyone who knew and loved him. 💙

From 2:00pm, we will be showing a live stream of Kenny’s funeral service on the big screen for anyone who is unable to attend the crematorium but would still like to be part of saying goodbye.

Following the service, family and friends will gather back at the club for the wake. A buffet will be provided, tea and coffee will be available, and the bar will be open as we come together to share stories, memories and support one another.

Later in the evening, we will continue the celebration in true Kenny style. As this year would have marked his 70th birthday, we will be holding a barbecue and keeping the bar open so everyone can raise a glass, share a laugh, and remember the many happy times we were lucky enough to share with him.

Everyone is welcome to join us at any point during the day as we celebrate Kenny’s life, friendship, and the lasting impact he had on our club and community.

Our thoughts and deepest condolences remain with Kenny’s family and friends at this difficult time. 💙

We have just seen the arrangements for Kenny’s funeral and celebration of life.

The service will be held on Friday the 12th of June at 2pm in the Oak Chapel at Crownhill Crematorium, Milton Keynes.

It feels impossible to put into words just how much Kenny meant to so many people. He was one of the genuine good guys. Always smiling, always welcoming, and someone who played such a big part in the community and life around Potterspury Sports & Social Club. So many of us will have our own stories, laughs and memories of time spent with him.

The family have asked for it to be a celebration of Kenny’s life, so smart casual dress has been requested, with no dark colours.

After the service, everyone is invited back to Potterspury Sports & Social Club to spend time together, share memories and raise a glass to Kenny. There will also be a barbecue later in the evening, and children are welcome too.

Donations, in place of flowers, will go to Al’s Pals and Willen Hospice.

Thinking of all of Kenny’s family and close friends at such a difficult time. He’ll be hugely missed by so many people ❤️
