Hi everyone,
I wanted to let you know that I’m now offering Personal Training sessions in the local area.

Sessions are flexible and can be tailored to suit you:
• 1-to-1 or small group training
• Home visits
• Outdoor sessions in local parks

I can help with:
• Improving general fitness
• Building strength and mobility
• Weight loss
• Getting back into exercise after a break

All sessions are adapted to your ability and goals.

If you’d like more information or a chat about getting started, please feel free to message me or email.

I’m also thinking about starting a Box Fit class in a local hall, likely around £5 per session.

Today was a lower body day. I really missed deadlifting during lockdown! I recently had a flare up of an old lower back injury, but luckily I have been able to work around it.
Training around minor injuries is something I have done for years, especially in my younger days playing a lot of competitive football. I know not all will agree with training when injured, but I am a big believer in active recovery and having a positive mental attitude. I have found ways to adapt workouts to not halt my progress. I also feel this has also helped aid my recovery at times.
"Partial Deadlifts" have been great for me. I still get to work on my deadlift technique and strength, while taking pressure off of my lower back. They are also a great starting point for anyone wanting to learn how to deadlift and are especially useful for taller people learning to deadlift.
Next time you are in the gym give them a go 💪

Keeping to goals or new habits is not easy — so much so that there’s a cottage industry of life coaches, motivational speakers and stationery companies offering you tricks, hints, motivational journals and other products apparently designed to keep you on the straight and narrow.
But there might be an easier — and considerably cheaper — way of doing things. Rather than trying to motivate ourselves alone, Katie S. Mehr and colleagues from the University of Pennsylvania argue in the Journal of the Association for Consumer Research, copying the strategies that our friends use may provide us with some much needed drive.

BLUE ZONES SUMMARY
🔸️Blue Zones are areas of the world in which people live exceptionally long lives. Studies have found that genetics only play a 20–30% role in longevity.
🔸️People in Blue Zones typically eat a 95% plant-based diet that’s rich in legumes, whole grains, vegetables and nuts, all of which can help reduce the risk of death.
🔸️Caloric restriction and periodic fasting are common in Blue Zones. Both these practices can significantly reduce risk factors for certain diseases and prolong healthy life.
🔸️People in some Blue Zones drink one to two glasses of red wine per day, which may help prevent heart disease and reduce the risk of death.
🔸️Moderate physical exercise that is built into daily life, such as walking and climbing stairs, may help prolong life.
🔸️People in Blue Zones get sufficient sleep. Seven hours of sleep at night and naps of no more than 30 minutes during the day may help reduce the risk of heart disease and death.
🔸️Factors other than diet and exercise play an important role in longevity. Religion, life purpose, family and social networks can also influence how long you live.

Brutal workout today with Han 💪😁💯
Han is a paramedic who started training initially to build up her upper strength to help when helping patients on the job, as she has to help carry or lift people at times. She has come a long way in a short space of time, which is all down to her amazing work ethic. She has caught the fitness bug, as she trains nearly everyday now but I think tomorrow is definitely a well earned recovery day 🥵😅
Proper proud of Han, who completed a modified 'MURPH' in 46mins & 56secs 🙌
The aim was to complete in under 50mins which she smashed & I am pretty sure she could do it under 40mins next time.
We are now calling the modified workout "THE HAN" 👌😅
▪️1.4 mile run
▪️100 bicep curls
▪️100 press ups
▪️100 tricep dips
▪️300 squats
▪️1.4 mile run
