🥳🎂🥳 ITS OUR 10th BIRTHDAY 🥳🎂🥳

On this day 10 years ago 15/01/14 the founder members of Hilsea Cricket Club met in the back bar of The Phoenix Pub (Hilsea) to hold its first committee meeting.

Present at the meeting where -

• Michael Standen (Elected Club Fixtures Secretary)
• Joe Standen (Elected Club Treasurer)
• Mandy Catley
• Rick Grace
• Mike van Schalkwyk
• Tracy Grace

The name of Hilsea Cricket Club was settled on, it was decided we would play in black caps (they where the cheapest to buy in bulk) and we would play our home fixtures at the Rugby Camp in Portsmouth.

Over the last decade the club has grown from strength to strength and now has over 50 members, turning out 2 teams a week in local leagues and also play friendly games on a Sunday.

Since 2015 we have played our home games at our home ground of Great Salterns and have grown our facilities there to the point where we now host Hampshire Blind Cricket as well as the ECB Alstars for kids aged between 5-8.

This summer we will be hosting a Hilsea Originals game against the current Hilsea squad in what will be a fantastic day for all the family so please keep an eye out for that!

It has been an amazing 10 years and here is to the next 10 and beyond 🏏🖤🏏🖤🏏

*ATTENTION*

This coming weekend, Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th September.
WORKING WEEKEND at the club! As many volunteers needed to help us prep the square to allow us to play cricket next summer.
No previous experience needed, just good old-fashioned graft amongst friends.

Many hands make light work, so the more the merrier and all help is appreciated!

30 years ago today a chubby beach bum from South Australia became a cricketing legend with the ball of the century!

He drank, he smoked and he bowled a bit of leg spin. RIP Warny 💔🏏💔
