The U14s were at the John Jenkins today cheering on Moneyfields FC Women and a proud moment at half time for x3 of the girls who have now all amassed x100 appearances for the Club over the last x5 seasons ๐Ÿ‘

All x3 girls three have 100% appearances in all competitions over the past x4 seasons and with Ruby Duncan and Lilly Greenway extending that to x5 seasons. A phenomenal achievement by all x3; never injured or ill, always available. Fantastic effort.

The girls can celebrate their achievement after they were rewarded with a kind donation by Sean Magee (Moneyfields Committee Member and U16 Boys Manager) and his company Platinum Restorations, with a voucher for their favourite restaurant. Big thank you to Sean!

Well doneโ€ฆAva Mo, Ruby Duncan and Lilly Greenway ๐Ÿ‘

*** U14 Yellows vs. Stoneham 28/03 ***

Back to League action for the U14 Yellows yesterday in the HGYFL Division 1, as we welcomed AFC Stoneham Panthers to King George V in Cosham.

The second meeting in a few weeks and Stoneham needed all 3 points to stop Moneys winning the title.

Moneys were hoping for a better start than last week but it couldnโ€™t have started any worse. A long ball forward caught the defence sleeping and despite a challenge from Ruby Duncan in goal, the ball fell kindly and Stoneham took an early lead after 30s.

Moneyfields put the poor start quickly behind them and on 7mins were level. A great run by Edie Cleeve almost brought the game level, but after her shot was saved Ava Buffery was on hand to tap in the equaliser. Game on!

Moneys were getting control of the game and were starting to dominate. Nothing was getting past the midfield duo of Phoebe Bushnell and Ava Mo, with Mo winning header after header.

The Moneys defence were on top form, Elsie Lane won a superb tackle and Lilly Greenways positioning was spotless, making several key interceptions.

On 20mins Moneys took a deserved lead. Another super corner from Dahla Lane was swung in and Phoebe Bushnell โ€œrose like a salmonโ€ but her header was well saved by the Stoneham keeper but she powered in the rebound to make it 2-1!

Half Time: Moneyfields 2-1 Stoneham

A solid first half performance, looked to unravel quickly at the start of the second half, when after 3mins a long ball forward evaded the on rushing Ruby Duncan, and Stoneham were level.

However, Moneys were soon back in the lead, when good work by Ava Buffery presented a shooting chance and whilst it wasnโ€™t the most potent strike, managed to go over the line. 3-2 Moneys!

The title celebrations were in full swing when Ava Buffery completed her hat trick in superb fashion, after evading the last defender she fired a shot over the keepers head.

Edie Cleeve continued to occupy 2 and sometimes 3 defenders as she worked tirelessly upfront. Aimee Butler and Matilda Vickery-Sales continued to marshall the backline and nothing was getting past them.

The game was wrapped up in style when Ava Mo danced through the Stoneham defence to coolly slot home Moneys 5th and cap off an unbelievable season.

With two games to spare the girls are Div 1 Champions, a massive achievement capping off 5 years of constant progression ๐Ÿ‘

*** U14 Yellows vs. QPL 21/03 ***

Last weekend we welcomed QPL to Portsmouth as the sides looked to lock horns again this time in the league.

The game couldnโ€™t have started any worse with the home side quickly 0-1 up. QPL progressed down their right and crossed into the box and a goal mouth scramble couldnโ€™t be cleared by Ava Burns this week and Moneys were behind.

Moneys took a bit of time to settle but on 16mins the Lane Twins combined to make the game level. Dahla Lanes corner was perfectly swung in for sister Elsie to get in front of the defender to make it 1-1.

The goal of the season almost followed, Ava Buffery evaded 2/3 defenders before her shot smashed against the bar, an inch lower and it would have been 2-1 ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿผโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Minutes later the QPL keeper kept it level again with a superb save low down from Edie Cleeves shot. Moneys were piling on the pressure and a great run by Cleeve again but her shot went over the bar.

Just before half time Edie Cleeve put Moneys ahead with a toe poke past the keeper.

Half Time: Moneyfields 2-1 QPL

The second half started like the first when a long ball from evaded Matilda Vickery-Sales and Aimee Butler and the pacey QPL forward broke free to make it 2-2.

Moneys were pushing hard to regain the lead and were given an ideal opportunity after a handball in the box gave the home side a penalty. This week Ava Buffery stepped up and made no mistake with a well taken finish.

Moneys held on to the all 3 points and one more step towards the title.

*** U14 Yellows vs. Stoneham 07/03 ***

Bit of a delay on write ups but back at the start of the month the U14s faced a big test away to AFC Stoneham Panthers who were the only challengers for the title and these games are always well contested affairs.

The game was a nervous start for the visitors who were struggling to gain control in the opening exchanges on a bobbly pitch.

But the nerves were settled after 15mins, good work from Ava Buffery and her shot was parried by the keeper but Ava Mo was alive to put all Moneys 1-0 up!

The goal settled some early nerves but the game was lacking quality. The game was level mid way through the first half when a long ball wasnโ€™t dealt with and a shot from distance evaded Ruby Duncan 1-1.

Half Time: Stoneham 1-1 Moneyfields

Moneys were determined to put some distance in the title race in the second half and started much better.

Moneys were awarded a penalty after Ava Buffery was pulled back and presented a glorious chance to take the lead. Dahla Lane stepped up confidently but the keeper guessed right and made a great save to keep it at 1-1.

Stoneham were pressing hard and were unlucky not to take the lead after a shot rattled the inside of the post and rolled across the line and looked certain to be a goal, but Ava Burns had other ideas and cleared it off the line.

The game looked like it was heading for a draw and possibly a fair result, but in the dying moments Edie Cleeve had other ideas. The ball sat nicely and she instinctively turned and shot and smashed the ball in off the underside of the bar to send the Moneys girls wild! ๐Ÿš€

Moneys werenโ€™t finished and Ava Buffery got in on the scoring after a superb strike cannoned in off the post to steal all 3pts.

A massive victory to take control of the title race.
