The way our life looks often reflects the people we spend the most time with. It's a cliche but it's true. This is why since I started training people I wanted to bring them together to form a community of healthy happy people, all supporting each other to achieve incredible things.
It's been simmering away for a while now but just lately our community has really started to feel like an awesome thing to be involved with.
Every day now I'm seeing people supporting each other, not just in the gym but going further than that into other areas of people's lives. Businesses, studies, personal lives and all manner of different areas are being helped and supported by our awesome members.
It's not easy improving your health and wellbeing at times but it really helps when we know we have an amazing team of people around us that will be there to support us through the tough times and help us celebrate the good ones too!
A big thankyou to all our members for making the last year of training such a pleasure. Hear's to a great end to the year!

Improving your health doesn't have to be complicated.
Let's simplify a few often overly complicated areas.
1. Exercise: do an even mix of strength and cardiovascular training. E.g 2 strength + 2 cardio session each week.
2. Nutrition: prioritise protein and fruit/veggies. Increase these areas and decrease (not cut out!) fats and carbs is often a great way to improve your health through nutrition.
3. Recovery: Sleep more. 7-8hrs of good quality sleep will cure a lot of ills.
It doesn't have to be complicated. If you are smashing the 3 points above you're probably feeling great. If not, I'll redirect you to the 3 points above. We call them the big rocks.

DON'T REACT TO YOUR HEALTH...
We focus on improving our health as much as possible at Pike Performance. Most of our goals aren't about six packs and 1 rep maxes. They're about living longer and feeling better in our every day life.
This doesn't mean we don't train though. A great way to reduce changes of high BP, type 2 diabetes, stroke, anxiety, depression, is to lift weights, get our cardio sessions in, get stronger, grow muscle, get fitter, run faster, eat healthier, be more present and be part of a supportive and positive community.
We call this PROACTIVE HEALTH CARE.
Don't wait until you're in the doctor's office to address your health.
You can take action today and have fun whilst you're doing it.

Fat is an essential micronutrient and useful for low or moderate intensity exercise
Our top tip is to split fat into thirds. Try to split total fat intake equally into Saturated, Unsaturated and Monounsaturated. Examples of each include
- Saturated: coconut, fatty beef, butter
- Unsaturated: walnuts, fish, flax
- Monounsaturated: nuts, avocado
