Portsmouth & Southsea is a friendly club and welcome visitors, whether they are just there to try their hand at a new sport or whether they are old hands who want a good night’s fencing. A quick reminder that we are holding our AGM next week (14th Nov) at the start of the senior session (7pm). Parents of juniors, please can we encourage you to be present too – every member gets a vote, and you will be able to vote on your child’s behalf. There are only a handful of items, so it shouldn’t take long, but they include things that relating to the juniors as well as the seniors.

Important Please READ!!
Times Session 4th July
The school have told me that the main hall will be unavailable until 7pm this Monday (July 4th) due to a school disco. We will therefore have to run the junior session from 7pm-8pm. Apologies for the late notice and any inconvenience!

Senior Session back in Sports Hall
After an extended period in the Main Hall, the Senior session will be returning to the Sports Hall as of this Monday (June 27th), at the original time of 7pm-9pm. We'll have the Semifinals and Finals of the Club Epee competition and presentation during this session too.

Gosport Heritage - Bob Anderson Memorial Event
On a completely different track, I've been contacted by Gosport Heritage Society who are holding a series of events between 9th and 18th September to commemorate the life of Bob Anderson. If that's not a name you know, go look it up - he's quite the fencing giant! Between winning all sorts of medals in the sport, he coreographed and coached fencing in a ton of Hollywood movies, including Star Wars, Bond films, and (for the oldies) Errol Flynn movies.

We've been asked if we can contribute something to their event calendar, such as fencing demonstrations. The best day for this is September 17th - when many of us will be a little bit busy running the Hampshire Open! I therefore want to ask for volunteers who would be interested in giving some demonstrations in Gosport on the 17th, who are not competing in or helping run the Hampshire Open. This includes juniors (n.b. juniors giving demos will need a qualified adult to supervise, but I think it will be possible to arrange that too)!

We're back Tomorrow (6th June) junior session running as per normal. Seniors will be having a foil night where everyone is encouraged to take part, including our beginners. Please note that the senior session is still 7:30-9:30 as the sports hall is still in exam mode.

Tomorrow (Monday 30th) there is NO FENCING due to the school being closed for half term.
The following week we are back on, with the junior session running as normal. Seniors will be having a foil night where everyone is encouraged to take part, including our beginners.
