You’re never too old to change your life. 💜
You’re in your 40s, 50s, 60s… and perhaps you’ve started to think that certain things are just no longer possible.
Maybe you tell yourself:
“I’m too old for that now.”
“I’ve got too many responsibilities.”
“I should probably just settle down.”
“It’s too late to start again.”
But what if it’s not?
What if you live to 100?
You could only be halfway through your life.
So why would you suddenly decide that your dreams, adventures and possibilities have an expiry date?
I’m not saying change is easy.
When I decided I wanted to move from Leeds to Southsea and create a life closer to the sea, I was scared.
I had a job, a mortgage, a house to sort out, family in Leeds and an enormous amount of stuff to organise.
The thought of packing everything up, finding a new home and starting again somewhere completely new — on my own — felt overwhelming.
So I didn’t just throw everything up in the air.
I made a plan.
I made sure I had a job to move to.
I worked through the practical things.
And then I took one step at a time.
Was I frightened?
Absolutely.
Did that mean I shouldn’t do it?
No.
And that is something I really believe:
Being scared doesn’t mean you shouldn’t change.
You might not be able to make your dream happen exactly as you’ve imagined it.
It might need to look different.
It might take longer.
You might need to make a few compromises along the way.
But that doesn’t mean you have to give up on yourself.
You’re never too old to make changes.
You’re never too old to try something new.
And you’re certainly never too old to start creating a life that feels more like yours. 💜
If you’ve ever told yourself ‘I’m too old for that now’, what was it? You never know who might read your answer and realise they’re not alone. 💜
