I’m loving all the 90’s nostalgia at the moment and I’m reliving my Buffy era ✨
I’ve been living one of my hardest seasons this past summer but I’m coming out of the other side and I’m determined more than ever to not let my body defeat me.
As someone who has lived her entire life with hidden disabilities, my disabilities are becoming more visible after my recent ankle surgery. I’m not just healing my ankle, my legs have really taken a hit the last couple of years since I had my accident which wrecked my ankle in the first place and my endo has been really hard to deal with and has been more constant most recently.
Always an open book, adverse childhood experiences started for me from a really young age and didn’t relent until I was 21. Then I had some really difficult stuff to deal with from then until recent years but I’ve never let any of these experiences beat me.
I’ve always fought for what I believe is right. I’ve always stayed true to who I am and never followed a crowd. I’ve got myself in trouble at times but that was only ever for standing up for what I felt was right.
My body is trying to cope with what feels like a lifetime of traumatic experiences. It was only a few years ago, I started to know what peace truly feels like. Now my body is breaking down at a more rapid rate because it doesn’t know how to deal with my nervous system being in a much more regulated state.
Adverse experiences alter the adult nervous system and raise the risk of chronic illness through long-term changes in stress-response systems, inflammation, and neural wiring (PMID 41381674) which is exactly what I’m dealing with.
I have been doing inner child work for a while now but in truth, it scares me and I’m unable to get to the roots so I focus on my health, fitness and wellbeing in its place. Focusing on my behaviours and cultivating a strong mindset has helped me stay as fit and as healthy as possible. My experiences, both good and bad allow me to help other people. I coach with compassion and empathy. I focus on determination over motivation and I will always do everything in my power to do what I can to help others.
Buffy Summers will stay with me forever! ❤️
