What a day and what a tournament 🏆⚽️🔵

This year we entered two sides in our very own Portland Tournament. We had a title to defend!

Both sides played amazing football and we met in the semi finals, with our Portland Pink side securing a narrow 1-0 victory. The Portland Blues played some fantastic football. Our Portland Pinks lifted the trophy for the 3rd year running 💪

Wednesday evening saw our final league game of the season. We had perfect conditions down the Bowl and we were all set for a final push in Div 1. Matt and I wanted structure, intensity and hard work. The team responded!

We started on the front foot, good patterns of play and passing whilst keeping our defensive shape. Both sides competed well, but after a brilliant counter attacking move, Caleb rounded the keeper and headed in our opener. 1-0 Super Blues!

The game opened up and both sides had chances with Noah pulling off 3 top saves. One of these received an ovation from both sets of supporters. Half time arrived with us deservedly leading. Second half and both sides opened well, good attacking football with solid defensive displays. Harry E corners were amazing all match and one of them led to a fantastic header by Alex R. Super Blues 2-0 up.

The game was always competitive, with Stars producing outstanding football, they scored 2 goals to make it 2-2. A fantastic free kick by Noah F almost won it with only an amazing save keeping the game level. Late on, another amazing Harry E corner was once again headed superbly by Alex R, with the ball crashing off the bar.

A superb way to end any successful season and a growing confidence that we can compete at the highest level.

Division 1 football again this year, as our Island side continue to compete at the highest level. Our aim it to develop local players and provide an inclusive environment for football.

Portland Utd Youth Under 12's 4

Wessex Lions 2

A resurgent Wessex arrive at Fortress Bowl for a friendly today, as we near the end of another successful season in Dorset Div 1.

Matt and I wanted intensity and good passion based football and the lads all achieved this. We started off with a high press and this led to us being on the front foot. Some amazing attacking football and passing patterns lead to us taking a 4-0 lead into half time. Alex R scored 2, Ethan scored 1 and an owl goal.

The second half was more of an equal contest with the midfield being the place where the ball stayed due to both sides good intensity. Wessex scores 2 well taken goals but we ran out deserved winners.

A win for football as both sides did very well.

Onto our final league game, this coming Wednesday 🙌🔵⚽️

What a performance from our mighty Blues 💙⚽️

Today's outing was against a very good Sturminster Marshall side, that have been sitting near the top of the league all season. Although results haven't gone our way, both Matt and I have seen in matches and training what this group is capable of. Today showed that.

The game opened in quite a congested way, we both sides battling in the middle of the pitch. A accurate direct through ball put Sturminster 1-0 up. We fought back to get a foothold in the game. A great cross was saved and Caleb was there to make it 1-1. Sturminster rallied and scored 2 to make it 3-1. Our heads could have dropped but the did not.

Game over??! No way, game on!

We began to play our passing game with great overlaps on both sides. A brilliant strike by Alex deservedly got us back into the game. Then out of nowhere, Harry picked the ball up near the edge of their box, some great footwork led to a fantastic shot. It felt like an age as the ball curled towards goal and into the top right of the goal.

Well done you Blues!
