Well Ladies and Gents... that's a wrap for the season. This little club of our is still showing that we are a force to be reconned with. Of course we did not have the same success as last year, and none of us should have expected it to be, but we still showed our talents, our drive and most of all, our commitment to each other.
We won the Men's SDBA Div 1 (Again) by 11 points.
Our Ladies team came Second in the SDBA Wednesday League. Missing out only on aggregate shots.
The Ladies also coming 3rd in the SDBA Friday League.
Sadly the Men were relegated from their first venture in the County Championship. We were not there to make up the numbers, we were there on merit. So, it is a new goal for us to bounce back next season.
We had a very successful two wood singles comp (Ken Bryan) and a lovely lunch thanks to our secretary Kevin and all who helped-out on the day. Stuart Scourfield being the overall winner there.
The Ladies did really well in this and it was great to see Grace Evans in the final.
Secretary Kevin Vincent won the President's Cup this year in Dorchester after playing top opposition.
As for our own internal club competitions, there were some superb matches being played and excellent bowls all round.
As for the playing Green... It has been fantastic! And NOW? after all the bowls we have played on it... it STILL Looks as good as when we first started. This is down to the dedication of the guys who spent so much time on it... Voluntarily, and there are not many of them!
We had a number of new members this year, and they have fitted-in really well and hit the ground running. All improving each time they play.
We also had a number of visiting teams playing us in some friendly matches, we always enjoying welcoming new friends and having some fun along the way.
So, what's next for our little Club? Well, we have our AGM coming-up and to end the year, we will have our annual presentation evening, where the successful winners/Runners-up will receive their trophies and we can get together for this fun social evening.
For 2026 we will have another Open Weekend, so please watch-out for our publicity and hopefully, you too, can come and see what this wonderful sport is all about, and how friendly this little club is.
I would like to thank you all of our members for their continued support for the club. If there was ever a sense of belonging, it is right here a PVBC.
Here's to 2026!
