Welcome to the Portland Victoria Bowling Club page. Formed at the start of the 1911, & affiliated to 'Dorset County Bowls Association' & 'Bowls England' (09014) Portland Victoria Bowls Club have continuously provided a valuable source of activity & socia

l interaction to many members of all ages & abilities. Registered with the 'CASC' (Community Amateur Sports Clubs) Registration number GB-CASC-434077c8. The Club offers friendships that can last a lifetime & its relative low impact sport opens the game up to a wide range of ages & abilities. The Club plays in the County League, South Dorset League & Ladies League competitions as well as playing friendly matches with local & not so local teams. We also play internal club leagues & competitions culminating in our annual presentation evening at the end of the Year. Our friendly members not only run the club, but also maintain the playing green which has had many favourable comments regarding its upkeep & condition. This is all thanks to our dedicated volunteer Green Team. Please contact us if you would like to know more or if you would like to have a go at playing Bowls yourself. Congratulations to our very own Dean Ballard (Portland Victoria) and his County Bowls partner James Roe (Dorchester BC) representing Dorset, for winning Round 1 of the Men’s Junior Pairs against a tough duo of Harry Creighton and David Wilson of Cumbria

This win sees our boys through to round 3 versus the versatile Suffolk pair of Ryan Hard and Joe Sims.

We as a club are very proud of Dean and James and we hope they can progress into the Quarter Finals.

After our recent success by winning the Baker Trophy here in Dorset, we are happy to announce that we have had another great success… Today, we overcame a resilient Greenhill BC to win the coveted South Dorset Bowls Association ‘President’s Cup’

This is the first time we have ever won the Trophy and a fitting tribute, to not only the whole membership of our small and unassuming friendly Bowls Club, but also tribute to the SDBA President himself! Why? Well, because President Paul Honnor is also a member of our Club. So there was a little bit of irony as Paul not only played in the winning team today, he also presented the trophy to his team!

A superb effort winning two trophies this season. Congratulation to all who have played in this competition.

Fred has been a member of our club for over 25 years and during this time, he has played many League and cup competitions. A quality Bowler and a true gentleman.

We are delighted to dedicate this day to you Fred as our guest of honour.

A great win overall. The last time we won the trophy was in 2022.

Open Weekend a great success.
We would like to place on record, our thanks to EVERYONE who came to play with us for our Open Weekend.
We had many people of all ages having fun playing this amazing sport we all love so much.

To those who have signed as new members, we thank you and will contact you all very soon.
