Portland United launches £100,000 appeal for new 3G pitch and stadium upgrades
Portland United Football Club has launched a major crowdfunding campaign to help develop its new stadium and install a community 3G pitch.
Following the club’s promotion to the Southern League, it is hoping to raise £100,000 to fund the new playing surface and other essential improvements to the ground.
The club says the development would benefit the whole island, providing a reliable, year-round facility for youth teams and creating opportunities for local schools, community organisations and other sports groups.
Portland United also hopes the improved stadium will become a community hub where people can meet, take part in activities and attend events throughout the week.
The club said: “This isn’t simply an investment in a football club — it is an investment in the future of the entire island.”
It added that the project would give young people somewhere to play, train, make friends and develop confidence, while helping the next generation of Portland footballers dream of eventually representing the first team.
The campaign uses a “keep what you raise” funding model, meaning Portland United will receive every pledge made before the deadline of 2.19pm on Sunday, November 15, 2026.
Donations of any size are welcomed, while people can also support the campaign by sharing it, volunteering or offering sponsorship.
