Our first regatta of the regatta season for Porthleven Pilot Gig club!
Zennor at the pebble strewn ‘Sandy Cove’ , just on the other side of Newlyn Harbour. Perfect conditions for a great fun day lay ahead!
Ladies A kicked off the day with a couple of rowers down we borrowed some rowers but managed a very credible 7 out of 14 crews. 💪🏼
The men had a great day!
Which was exemplified by a WIN 🏆 in the Open B race!!

For being a little down on rowers we certainly held our own with a very credible 5 th overall!!🤩💪🏼
Big thank you to for our lovely new race vests which definitely make us easy to spot in a crowd!!!

Great footage of the end of our first Nut rock where we have discovered the after burners in the last 20!
Something we used to great effect to take some very fine scalps!

Porthleven Pilot Gig Club CIO is delighted to announce a new partnership with Out of the Blue Freehouse, who will serve as the club’s official kit sponsor for the 2026 rowing season.

The season will commence on May 1st at the World Pilot Gig Championships on the Isles of Scilly, where Porthleven’s crews will proudly debut their newly branded racing kit. With over 400 crews registered from multiple clubs, this year’s Championships are set to be bigger than ever, highlighting the continued growth and popularity of the sport.

Porthleven’s crews have been training hard throughout the winter in preparation for the competition and are made up of a strong mix of veteran and novice rowers. Among them is Supervets rower ‘Doc’, who first competed at the World Championships in 1993, when only a handful of boats took part—offering a remarkable perspective on how far the event has evolved.

Reinforcing its commitment to supporting the local community, Out Of The Blue Freehouse investment will directly benefit the club and its rowers, helping to sustain participation and performance across all levels.

Jenine William and Ben Stone, Managers at Out of the Blue Freehouse, joined club members at Porthleven Harbour on Thursday 23 April for the official unveiling of the new racing kit.
