Please read regarding gymnastics starting back!

We want to let you know the situation with the sports hall regarding the renovation work and the effect on our gymnastics classes.
A new roof was due to be constructed last summer but never happened. Work is now due to start on August 1st and should be completed by October 27th, weather permitting. The school are using the hall for exams from then until November 14th and again in February from the 5th to the 25th.
This restricts our classes to just four before Christmas and four or five in January/February.
We have asked the school if we could use the gymnasium but due to the holidays we have not had a reply as yet. If we can use it then class numbers will be restricted as the gym is smaller than the sports hall. This situation highlights the need for a sports hall in Porthcawl which is for clubs and the community. When the hall is used for exams the Badminton club have to go to Bryncethin and the gym club stops as there is no alternative venue. Admittedly this is an exceptional situation with the renovation. With all the development planned for Porthcawl and the increase in population a sports hall is badly needed.
Whenever we can start classes again priority will be given to children already enrolled and then we will see how many spaces there will be for children on the waiting list. We will contact you as and when we can offer your child a place.

Hi Parents,
Details of the competition on Saturday April 27th. at the sports hall.
A £1 donation per adult on the day would be appreciated, which will go towards our apparatus fund for a new trampette.
Please read additional information at the bottom of the page.

Competition 1.
Girls 4 & 5 years of age.
Boys 4/5/6/7/8/9/10/11 years of age, split into appropriate age groups.
Gymnasts to arrive by 9am for a prompt start at 9.15am.
Participation medals will be awarded to all who take part and winners medals awarded on tumble, trampette and vault.

Competition 2.
Girls 6 & 7 years old.
Gymnasts to arrive at 10.30am for a prompt start at 10.45am.
(Medals as competition one)

Competition 3.
Girls 8/9/10/11 years old and 12 years plus.
Gymnasts to arrive by 11.45am for a prompt start at 12 noon.
(Medals as competition one)

Please can you make sure that long hair is tied back, shorts and T shirts for the boys, leotard or leggings/shorts and T shirts for the girls.
On completion of your child's competition and medals being awarded can you please vacate the hall for the next competition.

Thanks for all your support, we hope your child has enjoyed their gym classes. The hall is being used for exams during May and June and then it is closed for roof repairs until September.
