My amazing grandad ❤️

Sunday we saw our regular volunteer Eric Hughes (who is normally seen on the track turnpoint) tailwalking on what was his 700th time volunteering, 389 times at Bridgend Junior parkrun and 311 times on a Saturday at Porthcawl parkrun.
What a commitment, Thankyou so much Eric from everyone at Bridgend Junior parkrun 👏👏

Julys run is for Ethan 💚
Back in January 2026, Ethan and his family received the devastating news that no child should ever have to hear – Ethan had been diagnosed with Burkitt Lymphoma.
What followed was a long and difficult journey through intensive chemotherapy, hospital stays, and countless challenges. Throughout it all, Ethan showed incredible strength, courage, and determination. Ethan was slowing getting better and proudly rang the bell marking the end of his cancer treatment. Sadly a few weeks later he became unwell and the cancer was back.
Let’s do what we can to raise some money to help Ethan and his family at this terrible time they’re going through.

We will have donation buckets on the run and the Yoga class will be £5 per person which will go directly to Ethan’s gofund me page. 💚

Whether you walk, jog, or run… your support means everything, coming together as a community is truly wonderful.

This is Ethan Griffiths, a 14-year-old rugby player from Bridgend. Just days after he was given the all-clear, sadly he has been told his cancer is back.

Ethan and his family received the devastating news in January he had been diagnosed with Burkitt Lymphona, a fast-growing form of cancer. However after months of intensive chemotherapy and hospital stays the 14-year-old finally received the news he was waiting for – he was cancer-free and got to ring the bell to mark the end of his treatment.

On Friday, May 29, Ethan celebrated with his teammates at Bridgend Athletic RFC's annual presentation where he was presented with a bell he could proudly ring in front of his friends. But on the Sunday he found himself feeling unwell again and ended up in hospital where he and his family were told the heart-breaking news that the cancer was back.

A fundraiser has been set up by the mum of one of Ethan's teammates to ease the financial pressure on the parents who are out of work so they can spend time with Ethan. You can find the link in the comments below ⬇️

Huge thank you to the lovely Angela for putting on a brilliant post run Yoga class. 🧘🏽‍♀️
And to Paul & Delia for staying open for us at for some refreshments, it truly makes the night perfect 🤗

IZFIT run club wouldn’t be what it is without all you gorgeous girls turning up monthly, rain or shine to show your support to eachother and enjoy the fresh sea air 🌊☀️

So thank you to everyone who has turned up over the last few months 💜
