It was a warm, sunny and calm day for our annual Captains' Charity Day.

The Club Captain and Lady Captain would like to thank those members and friends who supported us on the day and made it a success. Thanks to our greens and on-course staff, Lee Bromley of Birdie Golf and our bar and restaurant staff for doing what they do so very well.

Congratulations to all the winners, Jerry Oliver's team in first place, The Lakeside Team in second and Luke Havard and friends in third place.

We are delighted that a sum of over £1700 will go to our chosen charity, Velindre Cancer Care.

🏌️‍♂️ Potter Cup Match Report 🏌️‍♂️

The Grove were back in Stones cup action last Wednesday evening as they welcomed Glynneath in the Potter Cup, with glorious sunshine and superb course conditions providing the perfect setting for another excellent evening of golf.

The Grove produced a strong all-round performance with an impressive 4–1 victory over a side one division above them. The standout performance came from Anthony Lacey and Lloyd Willis, who were in outstanding form from the start, combining brilliantly to record a dominant 7&6 win.

David Davies and Phil McGuire once again showed why they're such a reliable partnership, playing composed golf throughout to secure a deserved 3&2 victory. Simon Prior and David Evans also battled hard in a competitive match, holding their nerve to claim an excellent 2&1 win.

Steve Cobley and Jake Furness were involved in a tightly contested encounter that finished all square, while David Milligan and Rhys Cobley were once again pushed all the way to the 18th, earning another hard-fought half after a closely fought match.

A fantastic team performance sees The Grove through to the semi-finals of the Potter Cup, where they now await confirmation of their next opponents.

Well played to everyone who represented The Grove.

From the 1st of August we will be updating our loyalty bar card system. All former members who have not renewed their Club membership are to spend their remaining balance by the 31st July using their card. Only active Grove Golf Club members are able to top their cards up.

🏌️‍♂️ League Match Report 🏌️‍♂️

The Grove were back in Stones league action on Monday evening as they took on Mond Golf Club in glorious sunshine, with excellent conditions making for a fantastic evening of golf.

It proved to be a closely contested match throughout, with several games going right down to the closing holes. Phil and David were the standout pairing, complementing each other's games brilliantly to secure a commanding 6&5 victory. Jason and Jake also produced a strong performance, pulling away late to claim an impressive 3&1 win.

Steve and Anthony battled hard but were beaten 3&2, while Josh and Evan suffered a heartbreaking 1 up defeat after their match went to the 18th. David and Rhys were also involved in a tight contest that reached the final hole before narrowly losing 2 up.
With Mond taking three matches to The Grove's two, the visitors claimed a hard-fought 3–2 victory. Despite the result, there were plenty of positives to take from another committed team performance.

Well played to everyone who represented The Grove, and congratulations to Mond Golf Club on a great match.

🏌️‍♂️ Stones League Match Report 🏌️‍♂️

The Grove were on the road on Tuesday evening as they travelled to Neath Golf Club, looking to keep their unbeaten league run intact.

We were treated to a lovely evening for golf, with the course in great condition. A big thank you to everyone at Neath for their hospitality – they were fantastic hosts and made us feel very welcome.

With our regular captain unavailable, Phil McGuire stepped in to lead the team and did a superb job. He kept everything running smoothly and also led by example out on the course.

The performance of the night came from Corey Tamlyn and Tom Walters, who were absolutely flying. They played some brilliant golf and never gave their opponents a look in, running out impressive 9&7 winners.

Phil McGuire and Anthony Lacey also picked up a valuable point with a solid 2&1 victory, while Josh Bell and Evan Davies battled hard in a closely fought match to earn an important half.

Simon Prior and David Evans were involved in another competitive match but came up just short, losing 3&2 after a good battle. Gary Walford and Simon White also gave everything against a very strong Neath pairing, but despite their efforts, they were beaten 9&7.

With the points shared, the match finished 2½–2½, which was probably a fair result on the night. Most importantly, it means The Grove remain unbeaten in the league, and we'll take plenty of positives into the next fixture.

A great effort from everyone who represented The Grove, and thanks again to Neath Golf Club for a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
