A great day was had by all at the Seniors and Youth Presentation. It was fantastic to see the boys all together again and thanks to Storm for the speech.
Rugby is nothing without your teammates but it is only right to mention the awards. Hans won the player of the year and the players player and Oshian received the most improved and the Vice Presidents award. Congratulations to the both of you and well deserved.
A lovely touch was Jack (on holidays!!) and Sonny receiving their club caps (smile Storm 🙂) for their continuous service to the club since u6s. What an amazing achievement for the both of you!
On a personal level, after watching them play since u8s, I can't believe most of these boys have finished their minis and juniors and youth rugby. I wish them all the best in their future endeavours - in both rugby and life in general! Thankyou boys and hope you have enjoyed your rugby as much your parents and families have.

*****Youth Presentation*****
Sounds like the club is going to be bouncing!!! The youth and seniors combine for their presentation today.
Champions Cup final, Champions League final and the presentation 🤩
We will be wishing a fond farewell to a number of the youth squad this evening - senior rugby next year.
These boys deserve a fantastic send off, especially some who have played for Porth since u7 and u8 - what a journey!
Eat, drink and be merry Porth Youth.

Best of luck to Porth Under 13 for their Cardiff Cup final against Merthyr on Sunday. Kick off is 1pm at the Cardiff 'Blues' stadium. I don't think any of our Junior teams have won a regional trophy - go smash it boys!

Season review - Porth Harlequins Youth 2021-22
Well, where do I start? Firstly, a huge thankyou to all the players, coaches, families, friends, supporters and sponsors. After having 18 months of no rugby because of Covid it was great to see a full season of entertaining rugby.
The boys have provided us all with some amazing rugby and season highlights which will be remembered for a very long time.
My personal highlight was the Friday night game against Llantwit Fardre. The match was intense and of the highest quality. We lost by 4 points but were the better team on the night (beating Treorchy away would come a close second)
Over the season we beat the Cardiff Championship champions, Division 1 champions and the Welsh Youth Cup runners up.
We were very unlucky with injuries and lost our entire front row before Christmas, number 8, scrum half and wing for the season.
I truly believe that with a full squad we were a top 4 national youth side. So hold your heads up high boys, we are all incredibly proud of your achievements and we await to see what next season brings.

A special mention to Porth u13 who have their Cardiff Cup semi-final tomorrow evening against Cowbridge. This is being played in Llanishen High School - kick off 7.15pm.
Best of luck boys.

Porth 2nds were incredibly unlucky to lose 15-14 to Ynysybwl with a very confusing referee decision that gave the home side 3 points at the final whistle.
A huge congratulations to the five youth boys who played. Dylan's positioning at full back was immaculate, Han's had a stormer until he had to go off at halftime, Jac did very well controlling Ynysybwls most dangerous player, Ioan played the whole match and landed an amazing touchline conversion and Josh put in a number of huge tackles.
I have to admit, it was a little emotional seeing some of the boys playing senior rugby and remembering them when they were playing under 8s!

The Youth season may have finished but it is fantastic to see so many of the boys involved in tomorrows 2nds Semi-Final of the Mel Davies Cup at Ynysybwl, kick off 2.30pm.
Congratulations to Hans, Dafydd, Ioan, Jac and Dylan for making the starting 15 and Josh, Sonny and Zak on the bench.
Best of luck to the whole squad and lets book ourselves a place in the final! 👍💪

Due to work and other commitments, this Saturdays game has had to be cancelled.
This now officially means that the 2021/22 youth season has been completed.
I would like to thank all the players for their dedication and hard work this season and the many proud and entertaining moments they have provided for themselves, families, supporters and coaches.
Also, a shout of appreciation and thanks to all the coaches for their energy and time given to this special group of young men in training and match day.
Thoughts and plans are already turning towards next season and details will be released when the WRU make their long awaited decision on age range!
A more detailed season review will be posted next week.
Finally, for the players aged 18, there is training tomorrow for those who want to participate at 6.45 with Porth 2nd's in readiness for the semi final against Ynysybwl on Saturday.

End of the season.......
We have a friendly home game on Saturday 23rd against Aberavon Green Stars where we will be hoping to give game time to our under 16 players.
On Tuesday 26th we have our final league game - again at home - against Builth Wells.
As the WRU have yet to confirm whether next seasons Youth will remain 16-18 or change back to 16-19, this may be the last couple of games for a number of the boys at Youth level.
In fact, it could be the last game of rugby some will play for a long time as the step up to senior rugby is huge.
Training is Tuesday this week and it would be great to get a large turnout from all the players who have participated during any part of the 2021-22 season. Let's finish this season with a bang.

And the good news keeps coming.....
Hans Nel (demonstrating a trade mark tackle!) has been selected on the bench for the first team. And what a match to start with - a fierce local derby at home against Treorchy!!!
Come and watch Hans and the rest of the team play at 2.30pm, it is the last home game of the season for the seniors.
Well done Hans, you are the youngest player selected for the match day squad for a number of years

Huge congratulation to Rachel Thomas-Evans from Porth Youth and everyone associated with Porth rugby on being selected to the Welsh Womens u18 squad.
Rachel used to play centre for us during the u12 and u13 age groups. She was a very talented player at that early age and one of the toughest players on the pitch with a great attitude. (obviously she listened to every word Storm said😂)
An amazing achievement Rachel and what a fantastic experience lies ahead for you!
