Portchester Sailing Club

Portchester Sailing Club Portchester Sailing Club is located in the upper reaches of Portsmouth Harbour, adjacent to Portchester Castle.

Founded in 1928, the club caters for those who sail a dinghy or yacht as well as those who fish or have a motorboat. The Club is a recognised RYA Training Centre, a Volvo Champion Club and a recognised RYA OnBoard Centre which aims to introduce sailing to the wider community, specifically our local school children. We offer courses for both adults and children with a range of dinghy courses as wel

l as powerboat and first aid training. In the winter we run RYA theory courses at Day skipper and Yachtmaster levels. The club owns several craft for use by club members for both training and recreational purposes. We welcome volunteers who are able to help with instruction in any capacity.

Another busy night for our 'Get afloat Fridays'. New and old members have the opportunity to get on the water with experienced dinghy, gig rowers and paddlers. Whilst it was a little on the breezy side, all had a great time, followed by a fabulous supper in the bar

A huge well done to eleven of our young sailing cadets, who have spent the last four days completing various different RYA sailing levels. Younger members completed levels 1 & 2, whilst our more experienced fleet smashed their 3 & 4. We are all so proud of you here at the club. We would also like to thank all of the staff and amazing member volunteers who supported this week to make it a success

What a fantastic first day of our Discover Sailing open weekend. We met lots of new people, who got to try out all on the water activities that the club offers. These included dinghy sailing, yachting, gig rowing, paddleboarding, kayaking and a RIB ride in the harbour. We welcomed our visitors onto our glorious balcony where the sun shone for most of the day. The smell of the BBQ was wafting through the yard, and our bar was open all day. Looking forward to doing it all again today. Huge shout out and thanks to all of our member volunteers for helping out this weekend, without you all it wouldn't be possible xx
