Hello folks,

I am sharing this post with our updated Summer schedule in case anyone didn’t catch my last one regarding the update. Moving forward our Honest Yoga schedule will reduce from two days a week to one.

Please see below for info on the current schedule, pricing and other particulars if you’re new to Honest Yoga:

I can provide you with mats and props if you don’t have your own – there is no booking required for your class as we rock it old school and steer away from technology.

I am positive that our Wednesday evening classes will return in the future, but for the next few months they will be on hold.

I shared some info about this in my last post but I am mindful that sometimes we miss updates if the old algorithm doesn’t present it to us and I wouldn’t want anyone to not be aware and show up on a Wednesday evening thinking classes are occurring


You can look at the caption in my last post for more specifics.

I’d like to mention though that the full-time role I work in the charity sector is not a permanent one and my current work agreement runs until the end of September - depending on what the universe offers me I will be more than happy to return to teaching on Wednesdays if the opportunity presents itself.

I’ve shared Yoga on Wednesday evenings since Spring 2022 and while I will appreciate this little spacious step back I will relish the opportunity to hold space for your practice on Wednesdays in the future.

*WEDNESDAY CLASS SCHEDULE UPDATE*

Our Wednesday classes are going to be on hold for the foreseeable folks. I am sorry to have to make this change but I feel it’s the best call I can make at the moment. Our Saturday classes will continue on unchanged but regrettably our Wednesday won’t.

I don’t share much personally on these platforms but to offer an explanation for anyone curious: I started working in the charity sector in February but I prior to this I worked in the telecoms sector and had a hybrid/work from home role. Hybrid working was so handy for me and my Yoga classes because I had much more flexibility for my commute - being remote allowed me to freedom to drive from my home in Belfast to my parents’ home in Armagh on my lunch break so that I was much closer to the Scout Hall for our Honest Yoga classes.

I would finish my classes and sleep over at my parents’ home and work remotely the next day, travelling back to Belfast on my lunch. This allowed me to be much more rested in general after completing my shift and the two evening classes. A wonderful upside to this that I enjoyed was that I had more time in the week with my family in Armagh.

My work in the charity sector is very rewarding and I love it but it is not a remote role so I am in an office Monday through Friday. Yesterday after work during my commute in the heat, the traffic and in the physical/mental fatigue I suddenly felt that maybe this is not the best fit for me and those that practice with me. It also isn’t fair to my loved ones to be spread so thin - so I am taking this into account as well.

I hope that my circumstances change and I can resume the Wednesday evening classes again because I absolutely love sharing Yoga – I have never done it for money. I share Yoga because I love Yoga and I know how it helped me open up to myself, my body and mind. Yoga has been so impactful in my life.

I have practiced for 19 of my 34 years of being a human and I can honestly say I would not be who I am today without it. In fact I would go as far to say that I would not be here now at all without Yoga.

This week is our final flight into bird-inspired Yoga postures with garuឍāsana ~ eagle pose
à€—à€°à„à€Ąà€Ÿà€žà€š

This pose strengthens the legs and ankles, opens the shoulder and upper back. It improves mental focus while helping cultivate confidence and increased balance.

Our beginner classes this week will invite you to get comfortable with the posture in stages with opportunities to try modifications that help you find your best expression of the pose. These offerings will be gentle but still challenging for mind and body.

Our all-levels classes will centre around the transitions into and out of garuឍāsana. These offerings will strike a nice balance between effort in the body and ease in the mind.

Good afternoon all,

I hope this finds you well. I’m excited for us to have some space tomorrow to practice our Yoga!

This week has been challenging for our community and I am very sorry that we had to cancel classes on Wednesday evening due to the actions of a thoughtless and misguided group of people.

Those that took part in the riots were not keeping anyone safe but instead causing harm, trauma, criminal damage and fear to our community. In light of it all it has been so heartwarming to see the loving support in the aftermath and the bravery of those who sought to help people in the midst of these horrible attacks. Let’s not let fear divide us but instead let’s let love unite us. 💚

Our classes tomorrow will focus on a lovely foundation arm balance and next week on Wed and Sat we will explore a wonderful progression from this foundation.

I can’t wait to hold space for you to breathe move and be here now.

in the interest of everyone’s safety this evening and in light of the criminal activity in Belfast and Portadown last night we will not be gathering for class this evening unfortunately

thoughts and prayers are with the victim of the attack on Monday, as well as with their family

thoughts, prayers and solidarity with every man, woman and child targeted in yesterday’s racist crimes as well as to every one who is feeling fear as a result of these attacks on our brothers, sisters and our neighbours

big love to the first responders and to the loving people who sought out to help families and individuals escape harm

Good morning folks,

I hope this finds you well.

Each week throughout this month we’ll be exploring postures inspired by birds ~ one of the most incredible animals to behold with eyes that can see.

I’m excited to share with you this week the beautiful eka pāda raja kapotāsana / one-legged pigeon pose.

This posture stretches the entire lower body, stimulates the abdominal organs and can help relieve sciatica. It helps to open the hips adding more flexibility to the joint. It offers a grounding an destressing experience but there are different variations and applications where it can be quite challenging and effortful.

We’ll explore in our all-levels classes how to enhance and develop the posture whereas in our beginner’s classes we’ll dive into the fundamentals and how to modify to suit those who find the posture to be challenging to access.

As always our Wednesday evening classes offer more of a winding down experience whereas our Saturday morning classes are much more energetic to set us up for the day.

Good afternoon folks ✌☀

I am very excited to hold space for you tomorrow as we have our final practice of the five elements / pañca bhĆ«ta. This weeks element is the most subtle of all, space / ākāƛa.

You can see some of the information regarding the classes tomorrow in the first image of this post, you’ll also see a wonderful wee quote in the second image I have shared.

I want to offer my apologies again that I had to cancel our classes on Wednesday. I had planned to teach headstand throughout this week but due to muscle spasms in my upper and lower back I had to take some rest which has helped a lot.

It felt appropriate for me to take a little bit of “space” but I am sorry for those that had planed to make it out to class and perhaps did not get to see my posts on social media.

I’m excited to close out our month with one more practice inspired by the elements.

I hope to see you in the moment, for those that I don’t see I wish you a wonderful weekend.

Good afternoon folks ☀

I hope you all are enjoying your week and the beautiful weather. I unfortunately have to call a rain check on this sunny evening as I have pulled some muscles in my back doing a combination of gym and gardening đŸ€Ł

I am very sorry for the short notice update folks but I hope you all take this opportunity to enjoy the remaining sunshine as June is about to be stormy.
