After the conclusion of the 2025/26 season, Blacky brings the curtain down on a tremendous playing career.

The versatile and experienced man hangs up his boots following a successful season, playing a massive role in helping Bonymaen Athletic secure back-to-back promotions.

Over the past few seasons, Blacky has covered a number of positions across the pitch whenever called upon, never once complaining. A true professional and a player who gave everything for the badge.

Everyone at the club would like to thank Robert for his incredible commitment and contribution throughout his career, helping the team secure multiple trophies over the years.

Congratulations on a fantastic career, Blacky. 🔴⚫️

Ahead of the 2026/27 season, Ricky has decided to take a step back from playing. The veteran prop signs off in style with victory in his final outing at Parc Mawr as we sealed the Championship title, before making his final appearance at the Brewery Field in our Silver Ball triumph.

Everyone at the club would like to thank Ricky James for his hard work, commitment, and the passion he has always shown for the badge.

We’re sure he’ll continue to show the same passion and support he always has - just with a beer in hand. 🔴⚫️

Before we take a look back at the 2025/26 season, we’d like to take a moment to thank some individuals who have played a big part in our success.

First up is SPG. Everyone at the club would like to thank Steff, who vice-captained the side to a Championship title and Silver Ball triumph this season.

Steff and his partner have now headed off on a new adventure down under, and we wish them both all the very best on their travels.

All the best and we hope to see SPG back in black and red again in the near future. 🔴⚫️🇦🇺

Following the conclusion of the season, Pete Thomas has stepped down from his role as Backs and Attack Coach.

Pete joined Bonymaen ahead of the 2022/23 season, taking the next step in his coaching journey. From the moment he arrived at the club, he quickly got to work in putting his stamp on Bonymaen RFC.

In his first season, Pete contributed hugely as the club gained promotion and a league title in Division 1 West Central league title.

His attention to detail, analysis, and passion for rugby helped allowed us to enjoy back to back promotions and into the Community Premiership.

During his third season, Pete helped take the club to another level and pushed players to play fearless and brave rugby, earning results that will forever be etched in history of Bonymaen.

Following our relegation back to the Championship West, Pete’s focus and standards have always pushed the club forwards. Resulting in one of the most decorated seasons in the clubs history, a much anticipated Silver Ball became the cherry on the top of Pete’s fantastic spell at the club.

Everyone at Bonymaen would like to thank Pete and his family for their commitment to the club. With Pete now coaching in our junior set up, the entire club is grateful that he made the decision to become a Bonymaen Boy. 🔴⚫️

After four remarkable seasons in charge, Sam Kiley has made the decision to step down as Head Coach at the conclusion of the 2025/26 season.

Sam took the reins ahead of the 2022/23 campaign and lead us to the Division 1 West Central title and promotion into the newly formed Championship West. The final day of the season, secured a double with a West Wales cup victory against Ammanford.

The following season brought even more success, with Sam leading the club to back-to-back promotions and into the Community Premiership.

In his third season, Sam took Bonymaen to new heights, during a historic and memorable campaign. Although the season ultimately ended in relegation, victories over Pontypridd and Merthyr will stick long in the memory.
Alongside this success, Bonymaen Athletic entered the national leagues, and had an unbeaten season.

Sam’s fourth and final season as head coach of Bonymaen, may be remembered as one of the clubs greatest.

A Championship West title, a double promotion with the Athletic side achieving back-to-back success, topped off with Sam’s final game as head coach. The clubs first ever Glamorgan Silver Ball.

Bonymaen RFC will always be indebted to Sam and his family for all of his hard work, commitment and sacrifice. He has lead his club through one of the most decorated and successful periods of Bonymaen’s history.

Thank you, Sam Kiley 🔴⚫️
