A lot of people think getting into fitness is a big dramatic decision.
In truth, long before someone becomes a PT, there are usually clues that point them in that direction.
The first clue is that you feel out of place at work.
You’re sitting at lunch with your protein shake and your salad while everyone else is heading out for fast food.
People think you’re the weird one.
Instead of heading for a liquid lunch, you opt for a quick gym session instead.
The second clue is that people ask you for advice.
There are always people who come to you and ask how you got in shape.
They ask about your training and nutrition.
And it lights you up answering those questions.
Technically, in that moment, you’re already coaching.
You’re just not getting paid for it.
The third clue is that you’re already creating content around fitness.
Maybe you’ve done a shoot.
Maybe you’ve competed in Hyrox or a powerlifting comp.
Maybe you’re just posting your training online.
Either way, the content you’re producing right now is centred around fitness.
Which means you’re already doing the job.
You’re just not getting paid for it yet.
The fourth clue is that you find yourself watching PTs on the gym floor.
Sometimes you’re inspired by them and think, I would love to be coaching like that.
Other times you’re frustrated.
You see trainers sitting on their phones, disconnected from their clients, doing a p**s poor job.
And you think to yourself, I could definitely do better.
The fifth and final clue is that you’re already doing your due diligence.
You’re researching the industry.
Maybe you’ve hired a coach.
Maybe you’re reading books from credible coaches or taken a course already.
All of these little things start to paint a bigger picture.
If you’re looking after your own health, creating content around fitness, and people are already coming to you asking questions about training and nutrition, the signs are pointing in one direction.
A career in fitness might actually be the path for you.
