The Northern Route ✨

Take this cycle to the north of Islay, and enjoy a huge variety of things to see & do!

✨ Loch Skerrols - a tranquil detour to this loch is definitely worth doing. Listen to the birdsong and enjoy the nature

✨ Islay Woollen Mill - visit this historic shop where you can buy wonderful woollen products and learn about the mills heritage

✨ Craigard Kitchen - a perfectly placed pit-stop, with the most delicious cakes to choose from. Or even stop for a tasty lunch

✨ Three Lochs Walk - whether you visit one loch or all three, it is well worth a detour. Loch Ballygrant, Loch Allen and Lily Loch

✨ Finlaggan - a significant, historical site on Islay. Learn about the Lords of the Isles and their role in Scottish history

✨ Persabus Pottery - a gorgeous little shop and studio where you can purchase amazing pottery and even paint some of your own too

✨ Paps of Jura - for much of this cycle route, you will have amazing views of the Paps of Jura towering above Islay

✨ Ardnahoe Distillery - the visitor centre here has epic views over towards Jura, where you can sit and enjoy a cuppa

✨ Bunnahabhain Distillery - a beautiful distillery on the shores of the Sound of Islay, the perfect last stop on this route

If you head back to Bridgend after your cycle, make sure to have a well-deserved cold drink, or delicious dinner at the wonderful

A cycle route with adventure 🚲
Port Ellen to the American Monument

💙 Port Ellen Distillery - take in the views of the fantastic, modern stillhouse, perfectly viewed from the route up to the Mull of Oa

💙 Cairnmore Woods - a beautiful little woodland walk, filled with wildflowers and birdsong. As you walk through, it leads out onto…

💙 Kilnaughton Beach - this stunning beach offers views over to the famous, square, Carraig Fhada Lighthouse

💙 The Shop in the Box - stop at this unique shop on your cycle for a chance to buy some amazing local crafts

💙 Monument Trail - this short coastal walk has dramatic scenery, cliff top views over to Northern Ireland and lots of wildlife spotting opportunities too

💙 American Monument - this monument is the perfect place to take a break and enjoy the breathtaking views. Read the information boards filled with important Islay war time history

A stunning cycle from Port Ellen to Ardtalla ✨

There is so much to do and see on this route, but here are a few highlights!

✨ Laphroaig Distillery - What a perfect first stop on the cycle. A favourite of King Charles, and holder of the Royal Warrant!

✨ Lagavulin Distillery - Brimming with history and heritage, it’s a great chance to grab a coffee and enjoy their Malt Mill Bar!

✨ Dunyvaig Castle - the stronghold of the Lords of the Isles. The castle has amazing views out to Kintyre & Northern Ireland, as well as back towards Lagavulin!

✨ Ardbeg Distillery - A fun-filled distillery and producer of some of the peatiest whiskies in Islay. With a delicious cafe, it is the perfect place to stop for lunch!

✨ Seal Bay - As the name suggests, the ideal place to spot some harbour seals. Plus lots of other wildlife too!

✨ Beautiful Woodlands - Different to most of Islay, you will be surrounded by Atlantic woodland, filled with birdsong!

✨ Fairy Hill - If you fancy a wee hike with panoramic views of Islay, this is a great place to stretch the legs!

✨ Kildalton Cross & Chapel - Dating back to the 8th century, the Kildalton cross is one of the best examples of a Celtic cross left in Scotland!

✨ Claggain Bay - A pebble beach that is also a good location to spot the elusive otter. Keep an eye out to sea!

✨ Ardtalla Beach - A gorgeous beach, with crystal clear water. The perfect place to stop a relax before the journey back!

Delivering bikes to Kilchoman tonight was made extra special, we spotted this lovely little owl 🦉 and just had to stop for a picture! ☺️ we can offer delivery all around the island for 3 or more bike 🚲

A lovely new addition to the 3 Distillery path…The cake shed 🧁 situated just before Lagavulin Distillery, it has a fantastic selection of home baking ☺️ A short enjoyable cycle from Port Ellen!
