At the club today it was also “Dunkies Day”
The day the club get to thank Duncan Lyon for all his hard work throughout the season.
This year, dozens of golfers took to the course for a two person scramble. Mixed teams, juniors, seniors, all were welcome.
The course as always in superb condition after the recent greens work.
Scoring was good considering very tricky wind condition.
It’s was the partnership of Donald Standaloft & Davie Kilpatrick who took the scratch prize, winning a couple of nearest the pin prizes to boot.
The main event however was won by, Arran Dunn & Jordan Morrison, whom pick up their prizes and the trophy.
Best mixed team was won by Stuart/Elaine McLean.

The club as always would like to take the chance to thank Duncan & of course Fiona, for all his hard work, and for Fiona letting him.

Good turnout at the clubhouse afterwards and a few lagers were consumed…..

Today saw the Final of the Junior Championship.
Well done to Louie McDonald and commiserations to Cameron Fisher. A lot of good years ahead.
Hard fought final, with cammy 4 down through 10 holes, he knuckles down to get back to all square thru 16. Louie won 17 to go down the last 1up. Cammy nearly sank a beauty to win the hole and take it to sudden death but lipped out.
Louie wins 1up. Well down to the pair of you. Credit to the club and your parents.
3rd place goes to Aidan Pelligrotti.

With an influx of juniors this year the committee decided late in the season to run a championship for them. Dates and times were all set and we are down to our final two for the championship trophy.
This Sunday, after the Greenkeepers Quaich , Cameron Fisher will take on Louie McDonald in the Championship final. Tee off at 3pm. Good luck lads. We will all be waiting in the clubhouse afterwards, food served and a prize giving afterwards. Friends and family are also invited up to join in the celebrations.

This Sunday 6th September we see the eagerly awaited return of our junior championship. With a much increased junior membership, there will be a stroke play qualifier at 3pm this Sunday, we will then proceed to knockouts the following Sunday at 3pm, with the championship finals and handicap finals the following Sunday with a prizegiving in the clubhouse afterwards.

Today we played the 24th year of the Ken Chisholm memorial trophy. This year we tried a three person mixed scramble format, with two gents and a lady.
Dozens of players took to the course on what was a great day for golf.
This has always been a very social day, and the food from the kitchen and drinks at the bar were fantastic.
Prize winners were as follows,

Nearest the pin
Donald Standaloft, Karen McMillan and Jimmy Standaloft.

Nearest the pin Alex Morrison Cowan, Cath Rae and Stephen Dunn

Best scratch score, Donald Standaloft, Karen McMillan and Jimmy Standaloft (40)

3rd place Roddie Leitch, Janet McAlister and Duncan Cowan (39.7)

2nd place Larry Devine, Janey Colhoun and Colin McFadyen (39.1)

And winning the Chisholm memorial trophy, were,

Jordan Morrison, Elaine McLean and John Whitelaw (38.9)

Huge well done to everyone for turning out.

Sunday past, saw us play the August medal, and surprisingly there were plenty golfers out on the course, some nursing slightly sore heads though. Scoring was outstanding and the scissors will be out for two or three players.

Best scratch score on the day was Roddie Leitch with a fine gross 72 (68)
1st Class winner was David Greer with 73 (65)
2nd Class and overall winner was Sam Jamieson with 73 (61)
3rd Class winner was Martin Young 93 (70)

Last Sunday saw the return after too many years, of the J Bicker Salver. Donated many a year ago by club stalwart Jim Bicker it’s great to have it back on our fixture list.
10 pairs took to the course and as always it was in perfect condition once again. And scoring was superb.
Thanks as always to Duncan & Graham for their continued hard
work, and to Jim for his sponsorship, this will remain our fixture list for many years to come.
Winners on the day were father and son duo Graham & Stephen Dunn just pipping another father and son duo of Hector and Neil Whitelaw, on a better inward half after both shooting net 62.

Well done to everyone who took part, this Sunday coming sees the August medal, enter on the SGU app where possible.
