💙 **Men’s Mental Health Week | 15th–21st June** 💙

At Poole Hockey Club, we know that strength isn’t just shown on the pitch — it’s also found in speaking up, checking in, and supporting one another.

This Men’s Mental Health Week, we want to remind everyone that no one has to face their struggles alone. Whether you're a player, supporter, friend, or family member, your mental wellbeing matters.

Take a moment to check in with your teammates, your friends, and yourself. A simple conversation can make a huge difference.

🗣️ It’s okay not to be okay.
🤝 It’s okay to ask for help.
💙 We are always here to listen and support.

**Tour du Mont Blanc – Day 2: Les Contamines to Les Chapieux**

Day 2 was a big one – and we reached the top!

Today's stage took us from Les Contamines to Les Chapieux, covering 18km in 8.5 hours. The route featured one long, relentless climb up to the Col de la Croix du Bonhomme at 2,500m, with a total elevation gain of 1,325m.

After 6.5 hours of climbing, reaching the summit felt like a real achievement. The views were spectacular and made every step worthwhile. We paused for a quick coffee at the Refuge de la Croix du Bonhomme before beginning the long descent into Les Chapieux.

Tired legs but high spirits at the end of another memorable day on the trail. Tonight we're staying in Les Chapieux, embracing the full mountain experience by sleeping in dormitories before tomorrow's adventure begins.

Distance: 18km
Time: 8.5 hours
Elevation gain: 1,325m
Highest point: Col de la Croix du Bonhomme (2,500m)

**Day 2 – Tour du Mont Blanc**

The day begins with a proper challenge: a long climb out of camp and another couple of hours of ascent still to come. The mountains don't give away their views for free, but every step higher brings bigger panoramas, fresh alpine air, and another unforgettable day on the Tour du Mont Blanc.

Day 1 done. ✔️

A hard day on the trail from Les Houches to Contamines, covering 21km of tough terrain and plenty of climbing. Definitely one of the tougher days ive done, but the incredible scenery made every step worthwhile. The views just keep reminding you why you're here.

A reminder of how challenging the mountains can be today as we saw a mountain rescue after a woman twisted her ankle. It certainly puts things into perspective and reinforces the importance of staying focused and looking after yourself out here.

Now it's all about recovery: electrolytes, plenty of food, some light stretching, and an early night before doing it all again tomorrow.

Tired legs, full heart, and grateful for another day in the mountains. ⛰️

This Men’s Mental Health Week, we're celebrating the strength found in movement, connection, and community.

Field hockey is about more than goals and results. Every training session, every match, and every moment spent alongside teammates is an opportunity to build resilience, boost wellbeing, and support one another.

Physical activity is a powerful tool for mental health. It helps clear the mind, reduce stress, build confidence, and create a sense of purpose. Just as importantly, sport reminds us that we don't have to face life's challenges alone.

This week, let's encourage the men in our lives to prioritise their mental wellbeing, reach out when they need support, and check in on those around them. Strength isn't about carrying everything by yourself—it's about having the courage to talk, connect, and keep moving forward.

Together, we are stronger on and off the pitch.
